THE DUI OF TRAVIS McCONCHIE
There's many jokes going around about this situation. In reality it's not one bit funny. The guard will get a slap on the wrist but the lady could be sent back to prison. My advice to the lady: When you get out of prison, whatever happened there, leave it behind. My advice to the officer: Remember, you are a representative of the department. Conduct yourself accordingly! Kay Lee
"This is the CO caught with his pants down. The woman was a recently released inmate from the prison across the street from where he worked at the Largo Road Prison".
"The stretch of SR-16 where this happened is the Correctional Officers Memorial Highway. Somebody should sneak down there with a 24x30 picture of McConchie, and erect it at the site, after all, this is a memorial."

Travis_McConchie's MugShot This pouty-looking bad boy is one Travis McConchie, newly-minted pride and joy of the Florida Department of Corrections, seen here in a mug shot taken on March 24, 2004 by the
Florida Highway Patrol. According to police, they attempted to pull him over for doing 73 in a 45 mph zone. He kept going, despite the lights and siren. After a 1/2 mile pursuit, he finally pulled over and explained that he wasn't running because he was drunk, or because he had some weed in his truck. No, see it was because his girlfriend was sitting naked on his lap as he was driving, and had a portion of her anatomy (two portions?) shoved into his face - THAT'S why he didn't want to stop. The cops really didn't care, and took him off to the pokey.

MARCH 26--Meet Travis McConchie. The 31-year-old corrections officer had a good reason for making the Florida Highway Patrol chase him for half-a-mile before pulling over his Ford pick-up Wednesday morning. No, it wasn't because he was going 73 in a 45 mph zone. And it had nothing to do with the fact that he was drunk, with his blood alcohol level twice the legal limit. And he wasn't even concerned about the pot in his ride. Nope, the Clearwater man (seen below in a Pasco County Sheriff's Office booking photo) just did not want to interrupt a very tender moment with his girlfriend Bernadette.

"I was told the girlfriend was doing time for leaving the scene of an accident? Can't help but wonder what she was wearing!" Is it against the rules of probation to date a prison worker? I wouldn't think so, but then many of their rules are extreme.

APRIL 5 UPDATE -- A few days ago, we reported on the March 24 DUI arrest of Travis McConchie, a Florida corrections officer who told cops that he initially failed to pull over for Highway Patrol officers because a naked lady friend happened to be sitting on top of him during the half-mile pursuit. Turns out the jailer's nude buddy, 35-year-old Bernadette Rivera, is also familiar with the Sunshine State's correctional system. That's because Rivera, a convicted felon, was a ward of the state until March 17, one week before the car in which she and McConchie were getting busy got stopped. Rivera, pictured in her prison mug shot, served nearly four years for a 2000 conviction for leaving the scene of an auto accident. Rivera spent the final five months of that sentence at a work release center in Pinellas County. That facility happens to adjoin the Largo Road Prison, where McConchie works. And since McConchie would also have worked at the Pinellas center when there were staff shortages, there can be little doubt where he first laid eyes on Rivera (perhaps it was across a crowded courtyard).

I read your comments in Angelfire regarding the DUI of Travis Mcconchie in March of last year. This was no surprise whatsoever. I worked with him for about 2 years. He should have been wearing a blue uniform instead of brown. He was a very poor Correctional Officer He was drunk on duty more then once and used drugs regulary when off duty. Unfortunately he was never drug tested. He certainly led a charmed life until March 24 2004
It is against the department rules for a Corrrectional Officer to date a Probationer. That in it self is grounds for dismisal. I'm sure he really conned this female inmate to go out with him. To the ladies he was a charming guy. Yes, he had plenty of time while on duty supervising her. Of course she violated her Probation and may have been violated and returned to prison.
Not only was Mcconchie a poor officer, a drunk, a druggie. He is one of the worst liars I have ever been around. she is listed under released inmates. There are three catagories to look for inmates on the DOC web site. They are Inmate population, Supervised Inmates and Released Inmates.
As you can see, she was released on 3/17/04 and not placed on probation. I thought she was on probation. Therefore Mcconchie could not be charged with fraternizing with an inmate on probation, although the Department certainly frowns on it. I think that would have been the least of his worries. The DUI and drug possession would have gotten him fired. Florida DOC doesn't give slaps on the wrist. They look for ways to fire people.
No, I don't want my name affixed to the information I sent you. There is bad Blood between he and I. I am now retired and am a couple of thousand miles away from Florida. I really enjoyed all the dirt on the various sites about him. What a loser. Yes Ms Lee, there is a god.
