CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS OF THE LANARK VILLAGE ASSOCIATION, INCORPORATED.

CONSTITUTION

PREAMBLE

In recognition of the need of residents and property-owners of Lanark Village, Florida, to associate themselves, to protect individual rights, to develop unity of purpose and to further common aspirations, we, the members of The Lanark Village Association, Incorporated affirm by this document our commitments to participate in the affairs of The Lanark Village Association, Incorporated as hereby constituted.

ARTICLE I

SECTION A: NAME:
This association shall be known as The Lanark Village Association, Incorporated, Lanark Village, Florida.

ARTICLE II

SECTION A: PURPOSE: The purpose of this Association is to further the ideas and ideals expressed in the preamble of this constitution, in the full hope thereby of achieving a better life for our members and our community.

SECTION B: TYPE OF ORGANIZATION: This will be a non-profit, civic benevolent and fraternal organization. No effort or undertaking of this Association shall be construed to be for the purpose of pecuniary profit and no part of the net earnings of this Association shall be construed to be inured to the benefit of an individual or private investor (should the corporation now or in the future issue bonds).

SECTION C: NO POLITICAL ALLIANCE: While The Lanark Village Association, Incorporated will encourage members to exercise their constitutional right to register and vote; the Association having a membership of all shades of political opinion, will eschew political alliances.

ARTICLE III

SECTION A: MEMBERSHIP:
Residents who reside in the Lanark Village area, 90 days or more per year, or property-owners in the Lanark Village area are eligible to become full members of The Lanark Village Association, Incorporated. Non-residents are eligible to become associate members. Membership is available through the donation stated in the by-laws, Article I, Section C.

SECTION B: PRIVILEGES OF MEMBERSHIP: The privileges of membership are described in Section H of the by-laws.

SECTION C: LANARK VILLAGE, FLORIDA: The physical boundaries of Lanark Village, Florida, for the purposes of this association shall be withing the Lanark Village Water & Sewer District.

ARTICLE IV

SECTION A: BOARD OF GOVERNORS:
The Board of Governors will consist of the following:
Secretary
Treasurer
Five (5) Governors


SECTION B: ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE: The activities of The Lanark Village Association, Incorporated will be conducted by the Board of Governors to include:
  1. Community Affairs
  2. Finance and Budgeting
  3. Planning
  4. Property Management
  5. Public Relations
  6. Membership


SECTION C: FINANCE: The activities of The Lanark Village Association, Incorporated will be financed from the donations of the members of the association, rents and such activities as might be initiated by the Board of Governors from time to time. These activities should be developed with due regard to the singular financial situation of a large part of the residents of the Lanark Village community (fixed retirement income).
