Greetings In Christ's Name!
The shipping container arrived with all things in good condition. The sewing class was set up with 20 sewing machines, 10 treadle and 10 electric. The container was fitted with shelves where the donated fabric was boxes according to type, organized. The security wall is going up and a practical auto mechanics work area is being constructed. Here are some comments from Joel Mendes, our Headmaster and Guinean Coordinator:
"God as called us for His job, as His workers we are, we don't have to fear nothing all the times He stayed with us to protect and bless, God is doing everyday new things in people's life's, because of FLAME and FLAME'S workers new people we are seeing each week some becomes believers and some not. In the school things are running up as God desire you will see the numbers of students in each class in the following: Computer class-1 cannot say the exactly number of them because I did not take their money we steel preparing the classroom. They just sign their names what is about 60 people. Sewing class - is almost ten students we got 8. Because of the price we cannot get more but now I decrease the price what is 1000 FCFA ($2.50) per month. Auto mechanics: 10 students. The two last classes (Theory and Practical) are running up with good conditions." We are paying the teachers and staff from a tuition fund people are giving to, and from the general fund also. We need more money for the tuition and general funds. Teachers and staff cost over $1570 per month. The week dollar has significantly reduced the value of the money we are sending to Guinea Bissau. In the past year it has dropped from 550 FCFA per dollar to 400 FCFA per dollar. Tom Crompton, a member of the FLAME Board of Directors went to visit Jesus' Industrial school in Canchungo recently. . Okorie Kalu, the West African regional Director from Navigators joined him and is excited about what he saw of FLAME'S operations in Canchungo.
Tom Tourville, an evangelist and handyman from Hawaii was in Canchungo from November 29 through February 22. He worked with Pastor Chenda talking to many Pastors, church leaders and church members encouraging them and helping them in their ministries. He also did things at the school and mission house such as making legs for the extensions on sewing machines in the sewing class, installing a new charge controller and kitchen cabinet at the mission house. He was a great help! Garden seeds and medical supplies were distributed. A young man who suffered from polio as a child received a new wheelchair. We (Herb and Martha) were medically evacuated January 3 to Dakar Senegal because Herb was experiencing an irregular heartbeat and palpitations. We were mugged in Senegal, three blocks from the hospital the evening we were leaving for Seattle. Martha suffered severe whiplash and Herb had four stitches to close a wound on the back of his head. We have sought medical treatment here and are both doing fine now. Needs: Prayer -For our continued good health for herb and Martha For good health for the Guinean teachers Wisdom for all involved For the country of guinea Bissau and its leaders Younger missionaries who can stay in Canchungo full time (we are in our 70's). Master instructors for Auto Mechanics, sewing and computers.
May God bless you all. Herb and Martha Reynolds Missionaries
