GAME 3: Flyer's Never-ending Scoring Drought Continues

If the Flyer's goals were rain, than all the plants on the earth would be dead. And the Flyers too will be dead if they continue to fail to score. With Monday's 2-1 loss at the Corel Centre, the Flyers now trail the series 2-1.

Despite Roman Chechmanek's hurt ankle, he still played outstanding, saving 28 of 29 shots. For the Senator's, Patrick Lalime got his second playoff shutout against the Flyers, stopping all 26 shots.

The first goal came 2:04 into the 3rd period on a Senators power play. With a couple of prior cross-ice passes, Radek Bonk was left wide open in front of Chechmanek with a clear shot. Sure enough, he berried it earning his first career playoff goal. After 3 power plays and more failed attempts, Chechmanek was pulled with 1:22 left in the game. After that the Senator's put the icing on the cake, scoring 2 empty-net goals. They were scored by Marian Hossa (19:05) and Daniel Alfredsson at 19:50.

Overall in the series the Senators have scored six goals while the Flyers have only scored 1 (overtime). Bill Barber has literally tried everything to jumpstart the Flyers offense. The effort is there, the talent is there, but the goals aren't. And the goals will be the deciding factor in game 4. With a win, the Senator's may very well have put strangle hold on the series. Game 4 will be played at the Corel Centre on Wed. April 24th at 7:00PM. Hopefully, a frustrated and desperate Flyers team can pull out a win.
