100 Worst Florida Athletes

This list was constructed by Mike Ferguson with the assistance of Fallon McNeil. The following are the 100 worst athletes in the state of Florida. There are no hockey players, becuase people in Florida do not watch hockey. There will also be no racecar drivers, because racing is for rednecks and we all know that they are stupid. 76. Corey Louis-C FSU

74. Willie Green-RB UF

One word: DISAPOINTMENT

73. Noah Brindise-QB UF

Walk-on Gator threw few passes in a 5-year college career; the reason........he couldn't.

Former UPS driver started for the Dolphins in the mid-1990's, but never rushed for 1,000 yards and failed to score in his final 3 seasons as a Dolphin.

Overpaid, money laundering, wideout caught a severe case of dropitis in his final seasons as a Dolphin.

Caught only 3 touchdowns in 2 years as a Buc. I remember when people were excited about Harper coming to Tampa Bay.

65. Jay Fiedler-QB JAX,MIA

Failed to lead Miami to the playoffs in each of the last two seasons. For this, he makes the list.

64. Craig Erickson-QB UM,TB,MIA

Overhyped QB never led Tampa Bay to a winning record in his 2 years as a starter. Played just 6 games as a backup for Miami in 2 years. His career last only 6 years.

63. Damon Huard-QB MIA

Lost starting job to Jay Fiedler in pre-season of 2000. The sad thing is Fiedler only played in one pre-season game.

62. Anthony Bowie-G ORL

Allowed Jordan to score over 60 in the early 90's.

61. Anthony Richarson-F FSU

As the first McDonalds All-American to attend Florida State, Richardson has failed live up to expectations.

58. Mark Royals-P TB,MIA,JAX

Has been released by each Florida NFL team in less than 3 years.

57. Steven Hunter-C ORL

Drafted by the Magic at age 19. In Hunter's rookie season, Magic coach Doc Rivers simplified the offense to three plays to allow playing time for Hunter. He could not remember them.

56. Tim James-F UM

Where is he now?

55. Ingle Martin-QB/WR/P UF

After losing his job at both quarterback and punter to freshmen in 2003. Martin has decided to tranfer.

54. Wayne "Tree" Rollins-C ORL

Averaged less than 2 points per game in 2 seasons with the Magic. Rollins is most notable for allowing Rik Smits to score the game winning shot in Game 4 of the 1995 Eastern Conference Finals.

53. Michael Doleac-C ORL

As a 12th overall pick in the draft, Doleac failed to show potential. At 7'1, Doleac still found a way to get pushed around in the paint.

52. Terry Jackson-RB UF

A one-year starter. Jackson's fumble at the goalline against Tennessee in 1998 may have cost Florida the game.

51. Robert Morgan-WR FSU

After blowing out his knee in 2001, Morgan dropped more balls than he caught in 2002. The ones he caught, he usually fumbled.

50. Brian Griese-QB MIA,TB

There was a time when Miami fans were happy about his arrival. Now, Buc fans will be holding their breath every time Brad Johnson gets hit.

49. Xavier Beitia-K FSU

0 for 3 on game-winning field goals. Had he been 3 for 3, FSU would have beaten Miami the past 2 years and Craphonso Thrope never would have broke his leg. Thanks Xavier.

48. Esteban Yan-P TBD

From reliever to starter to closer, Yan's ERA was consistantly around 5.00.

47. Miles Simon-G/F ORL

Miles was taken by the Magic in the first round. Simon's career lasted only one season. Simon scored 2 points in 5 career NBA games.

Took a 5-1 team and made them 6-4 in 2002. In his first start as a Dolphin, Lucas threw 5 interceptions in a 23-10 loss to Buffalo.

43. Greg Vaughn-DH TBD

After consecutive All-Star seasons with the Reds and Padres, Vaughn slumped to a .163 batting average in his final season in Tampa Bay.

42. Steve DeBerg-QB TB,MIA

Played until the age of 45. Football's version of Robert Parish, except there was a time when Parish was good.

41. Craig Counsell-2B FLA

After scoring the game-winning run in 1997 World Series, Counsell hit .251 and .152 in his final two years as a Marlin. Counsell was replaced by a rookie named Luis Castillo. Since then, Castillo has played in 2 All-Star games; Counsell hasn't had a starting job. How can we forget when Counsell was hit in the face by that pitch and started spitting out teeth?

40. Nick Anderson-G ORL

There are four reasons Nick is on this list, That is the same number of games the Magic went down to the Rockets in in the 1995 Finals.

39. Trent Dilfer-QB TB

Threw more interceptions than touchdowns. When Dilfer was playing quarterback, parents advised their children to turn their heads away from the TV.

38. Karim Abdul-Jabbar-RB MIA

Started for three season as Dolphins running back. Finished with a career average of 3.4 yards per carry.

37. Jesse Palmer-QB UF

Inconsistancy kept Johnson from breaking free of Jesse Palmer as the starter.

35. John Avery-RB MIA

Drafted in the first round in 1998. Played in the XFL a year later.

34. Matt Munyon-K FSU

Responsible for the third wide-right. Munyon didn't last a whole season as kicker in Tallahassee.

33. Derrius Thompson-WR MIA

Over-hyped off-season signing caught only 26 passes in 16 games for the Dolphins in 2003.

32. Joe Hamilton-QB TB

After never getting playing time in a NFL game, Hamilton lost his starting job in the Arena League as a member of the Orlando Predators.

31. Natrone Means-RB JAX

After rushing for 1530 yards and 12 touchdowns in 1995 as a Charger, Means averaged just over 3 yards per carry and scored only 11 touchdowns in 2 years as a Jaguar.

30. Jose Canseco-DH TBD

Canseco was unable to make a hugh impact as a Devil Ray. He drove in only 125 runs in his time with Tampa Bay. Even worse than his play was the fact that Canseco still sported the mullet. Jose Canseco recently got off house arrest and was immediately cut this off-season by the Dodgers.

29. Michael Husted-K TB

Made missing extra points look easier than it actually is.

28. Jarrett Payton-RB UM

After what seemed like 10 years of college football, Payton's Miami career is finally over. Injuries to other players actually allowed him to play.

27. James Stewart-RB JAX

Never rushed for 1,000 yards in five years as a Jaguar and lost his starting job twice in that span.

26. Charlie Hough-P FLA

Hough pitched for the Marlins at the age of 49. It was tough to watch Hough. Hough threw 57 mph knuckleballs and not many strikes.

25. Greg Kite-C/F ORL

In 5 years with the Magic, Kite never averaged more than 5 points per game and at 6'11 never shot 50% from the field or 60% from the line.

24. Michael Joiner-G/F FSU

After promising freshman year, Joiner failed to meet up with expectations.

23. Brian Evans-F ORL

Perhaps the worst Magic player of all time, Evans scored just 20 points in 14 career games with Orlando.

22. Steve Spurrier-QB UF,TB

In 1976, Spurrier played in every game for the Bucs. The result: 0 wins and 14 losses. Spurrier threw 7 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

21. Pat Burke-C/F ORL

Watching Burke play was like watching a 7'0" version of a hairy Powder.

20. Vinny Testaverde-QB UM,TB

The final pass of his Hurricane career was intercepted in the endzone of the National Championship. In six years as a Buccaneer, Testaverde never threw more touchdowns than interceptions. In 1988, Testaverde threw 35 picks and only 13 touchdowns. Twice in his six years as a Buc, Vinny failed to complete 50% of his passes.

19. Jud Buechler-G ORL

Acquired in a mid-season trade that sent fan favorite Bo Outlaw to Phoenix, Buechler averaged 1.7 points,1.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 66 games with the Magic.

18. Dan Mowrey-K FSU

A Mowery extra point was as automatic as a Shaq free throw. Thats not a good thing. Mowrey was responsible for the second wide right in 1992.

17. Kenny Kelly-QB UM

Kelly is the last Miami quarterback to lose to Florida State. After being replaced by a freshman named Ken Dorsey, Kelly quit the team to pursue a professional baseball career.

16. Brett Nelson-G UF

From freshman standout to senior 8th man. Young guns Roberson and Walsh made sure Nelson's career wouldn't have a happy ending.

15. Kelvin "Ghost" Williams-G Haines City High School

We know that you don't know who this person is, but Ghost was cut from USF's basketball team for refusing to pass the ball. Ghost currently resides in Haines City, FL. He enjoys free-styling, eating and borrowing money.

14. Adrian McPherson-QB/G FSU

Gambling problem cost him his Florida State career. In McPherson's final start, FSU didn't score an offensive touchdown. He's now playing in the Arena League.

13. Bernie Kosar-QB UM,MIA

Kosar threw for only 5 touchdowns and six interceptions as the NFL's highest paid backup. Kosar is a natural loser; he was on the Hurricane teams that allowed the biggest comeback in college football and the Flutie miracle. Kosar was also the Cleveland quarterback when John Elway engineered the drive.

12. Billy Young-Holder UF

Another Haines City alumn, Billy was the holder for 4 years at Florida. If you couldn't find Young on the sideline, he was usually a few feet up Steve Spurrier's ass.

11. Shaun King-QB TB

The one hit wonder Shaun King showed his true potential in 2002. A Monday Night loss at home against Pittsburgh.

10. Gordan Giricek-G/F ORL

After fluke rookie season, the Magic put belief in Giricek to be legitimate third scorer. Like every other Magic player Giricek didn't fail to disapoint.

9. Fabian Walker-QB FSU

Played so poorly in his own career start, Anquan Boldin was forced to play quarterback. With a career record of 0-1, Walker has the all-time lowest winning percentage of any FSU quarterback.

8. Mohamed Abukar-F UF

Abukar was recruited as an outside threat. I don't believe I remember him making a shot.

7. Terry Dean-QB UF

Lost his starting job to freshman Danny Wuerffel. Danny won the Heisman. Dean is probably bagging groceries.

6. Thad Busby-QB FSU

Blew 11 point lead in the swamp in 1997 and threw an interception on FSU's final drive. Busby is now a high school history teacher. Way to ruin a perfect season Thad, atta boy.

5. Scott Skiles-G ORL

No statistics can describe how horrible Skiles was. He is the only player that I have ever seen attempt to make a behind-the-back pass and get the ball stuck behind him. It was like watching George Castansa in short shorts and a tank top. Scott Skiles is the neighbor who mows his grass shirtless and makes everyone in the neighborhood sick.

4. Collins Cooper-K UF

Missed a game-tying field goal under 25 yards against Tennessee in overtime in 1998. Cooper never kicked again.

3. Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway-G ORL

Known as Penny becuase the word pussy could not be said on national television. Came back early from injury once he heard he was starting the All-Star game. Hardaway missed over 100 games in his final three years with the Magic.

2. Grant Hill-F ORL

After signing a 6 year, $96 million contract, Grant Hill has played in only 47 out of a possible 328 games with the Magic. The hard truth is that Orlando would be better off dead. That's what he has practically been for the past 4 years except we continue to pay him. Hopefully some day, his ankle is so fucked that they have to amputate it.

1. Brock Berlin-QB UF,UM

In his last game as a Gator, Berlin allowed Maryland to stay in the game in the 2001 Orange Bowl. Grossman entered the game and at that moment showed the world how incredibly bad Berlin was. Miami was an offensive powerhouse in 2002 and in 2003 they were twice held under 10 points. They would not have scored against Virginia Tech if Berlin was not pulled from the game. Berlin could not start for a big high school team. Sorry Canes fans, but you will never win a national championship with Berlin at the helm. Congratualtions, Brock Berlin, you are the worst athlete in the history of Florida sports.
