This is my 1988 Silver Monte Carlos SS. This car was purchased for me when I lived in California, soon after graduation in 1988. Several months after getting the car, I had to give it up due to some unforseen circumstances. My father took over the payments and the car has been with him ever since. In 1989 myself and my family relocated to Florida. The car came as well. My dad lived in the southern part of Florida for a short time. This car was and has been his daily driver. While living down south the SS was stolen and recovered twice!
The car now has approx. 213000 miles on it! The engine was replaced by a factory 350 approx. 66000 miles ago. Other then this the car is pretty much stock. As you can see in these shots it is in pretty bad cosmetic shape to begin with so off to the body shop it went.
As for the mechanical condition the car runs great! A few other things I need to due is a tune up, exhuast, and a complete interior restoration just to name a few.
The only major problem I am having with this car right now is it has several water leaks. I already have all of the t-top replacement seals. But its is also leaking through the back window, underneath the black trim. This causes a lot of water to build up on the rear passenger side floor as well as under the rear passenger seat. (All the carpet and padding is now out of the car). It is also leaking slightly from the passenger side front cowl. (Not anti freeze, just water). Until I can get these leaks stopped I'll have to hold off on starting the interior restoration. Update: Leaks are now all fixed.
I still have my work cut out for me. I am planning on tinting all of the windows and the stripes will be replaced on the car.
