Greetings to all from the Civil War Center of Texas (CWCT) at Beaumont Ranch (BR) in Grandview, Texas! I hope this finds you and yours well and happy. I want to let you know what's happening here at the CWCT and the upcoming War Between the States reenactment.
.
Now, the BIG NEWS! Let's have a reenactment!!!!
Rumor has it, that the burn ban has been lifted, so it's FULL STEAM AHEAD! The BR War Between the States Reenactment will be held March 17 19. We are looking forward to being host to most, if not all, the reenacting units in Texas and some from our neighbors to the north and east. We are working on our website, but have met some technical difficulties, so, until that time, units/individuals may register by emailing me with the following info: Name, Full Address including zip, Email address, Phone number, Unit name & commanding officer, Number in attendance, How many/what type artillery, and Whether you will be partaking of the complementary meal Saturday night. Note: When the website is up and running, the url will be: www.civilwarcenteroftexas.com
At present, the command structure is as follows:
Brian Glass
Overall Federal commander
Fred Yokubaitis
Federal infantry commander
Jack Strain
Federal cavalry commander
Ricky Hunt
Overall Confederate commander
Dave Wilson
Confederate cavalry commander
Not confirmed
Confederate infantry commander
Arthur Street
Overall Artillery commander
Larry Collins
Federal artillery commander
Don Waymack
Confederate artillery commander
I have completely re-vamped the layout, which will make for a shorter "traveling" time for walking reenactors throughout the weekend, with BR's Old West Chisholm Fork town being the center point. And, we will have all the usual activities and amenities, including a period fashion show and ladies tea for the women, Saturday night dance featuring Time Was, Sunday morning period worship service, etc.
The bad news is that I have been unable to find a black powder sponsor. So, we will not be able to give the amounts of black powder that I have been known to do at my previous reenactments. Therefore, whatever black powder we are able to procure will be given on a "first-registered, first-served" basis. So time IS of the essence in registering! I do want to stress though, that at this time, I can't promise that everyone will receive a powder allotment.
Hay will be provided and water is available, as well as plenty of portajohns. There WILL be a Saturday night meal served gratis to reenactors who wish to partake. At the present time, we are considering Irish stew or chicken n' dumplings, both period-correct meals.
So, gather the troops and the families and sign up for the BEST BR WAR BETWEEN THE STATES REENACTMENT YOU'VE EVER EXPERIENCED!!!
