In 1998, three men came together in the hopes of fouding a latin fraternity at the University of Florida. These three men were Jose Olguin, Cyrus Wyche, and Michael Ruiz. On January 30, 1999 they emerged as the Founding Line of the UF Colony of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc. These founding brothers worked very hard to get Sigma Lambda Beta’s name heard around campus.

The Alpha Line of the UF Colony crossed on December 2, 1999. These six new brothers were a true reinforcement for this colony of SLB. They added to the already strong brotherhood that had existed previously at UF.

After over a year without a new line, the Beta Line emerged on December 3, 2000. Six men had come into SLB family. A solid trunk had grown to keep the UF Colony strong.

The UF Colony gained chapter status on December 4, 2000, becoming the Zeta Beta Chapter of Sigma Lambda Beta.

On April 21, 2001, five more men crossed into the Purple and White family. Los Perdidos Encontrados, Gamma Line, became the first line to cross after chapter status.

December 6, 2001 became the day for Los Sobreviventes Determinados to step into the Purple and White Family.
