Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources

Washington(12/21/2004) — It looked like something out of the Twilight Zone as the Southwest Bandits squandered a late lead to go home empty handed, losing 78-77.

Jerry Porter caught 3 touchdown passes for the second time in 4 weeks. He pulled in 8 passes for 148 including scores from 32, 18 and 3 yards out. He has 7 scores in his last 4 games. Roy Williams benefited from a more aggressive passing attack this week as he caught 7 passes for 104 yards and scored on passes from 1 and 9 yards. Kyle Boller completed 19 of 40 pass attempts for 210 yards with a 13-yard touchdown pass and 2 interceptions. He has scored 5 times in his last 2 weeks.

`What a big win this was for us. The on-field celebration at the end of the game was just to let them know we were here,` DC HeadHunters coach Julius Hamelin said.

After a set back in week 14, Kerry Collins bounced back to turn in his best performance of the year. Collins connected on 21 of 37 passes for 371 yards and 5 scores. Derrick Mason racked up a season high 121 yards on 9 receptions and caught a touchdown pass from 3 yards out. He has scored 5 times in his last 6 games.

`I don`t think Jerry Porter scored, but it`s not my call,` Southwest Bandits coach Darryl Venison said. `Whether he got in or not, we don`t let him down there in the first place and we don`t even have to talk about that play.`

RB LaDainian Tomlinson paces Forestville Bulldogs with 17 points
Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources

Las Vegas(12/21/2004) — The Nevada Aces were back to their old tricks -- a field goal snafu, special team shenanigans, and an offense that was humbled early and often as they lost to Forestville Bulldogs 75-74.

LaDainian Tomlinson carried the ball 26 times for 128 yards and a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs. They were his 8th and 9th 1-yard touchdown runs of his season. Eddie Kennison is having a career year with almost all of his production coming in his last 7 games. This week he caught 7 passes for 101 yards and scored from 7 and 18 yards out. Matt Hasselbeck hit on 22 of his 30 passes for 201 yards with 2 scores and 1 pick. He has a completed over 65% of his passes and scored 2 or more times in each of his last 3 games.

`He responded like a pro,` Forestville Bulldogs coach Valerie Archie said. `LaDainian Tomlinson went a long way toward showing that I made a pretty good decision.`

Corey Dillon turned in another impressive performance with over 100 yards rushing and 1 touchdown. Dillon ranks 4th in rushing with over 1,400 yards. Jimmy Smith scored on receptions of 31 and 16 yards out. The 16-yard score is the shortest play that he has scored on this year. He ended with 4 catches for 87 yards and 2 scores. Nick Goings failed to reach the 100-yard mark for the first time in 5 weeks. He was held to just 2.5 yards per carry. Goings carried the ball 24 times for 61 yards and scored on a 5-yard run.

`It`s tough when we`re down that much early, because we had to get away from our run game,` said Nevada Aces coach James (Chris) Christopher.

Jerome Bettis unsung hero in Allentown Arrows victory
Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources

Allentown(12/21/2004) — When the going got tough Allentown Arrows coach Mike Daniels got tougher, leading the team to 61-37 victory over the AB`s Burn.

Jerome Bettis carried the ball 36 times for the first time in his last 7 seasons. He racked up 140 yards and scored on a 1-yard run. He has set a career high with 13 scores. Warrick Dunn accumulated 134 yards on 28 carries and scored on a 6-yard run. He posted his first back-to-back 100-yard rushing games this season. Antonio Gates caught 1 pass and raced 72 yards down the sideline for a touchdown. Gates tied the mark for the most scores by a tight end in a season with 12.

`We`re trying to establish ourselves as one of the most physical running teams in the league,` Allentown Arrows coach Mike Daniels said. `And we`re doing that right now.`

Kevin Jones carried 19 times for 79 yards with a 16-yard score, his third touchdown in his last 3 games. He also lost a fumble, the first turnover of his career. Aaron Brooks threw 21 passes, completing 14 for 169 yards and 2 scores. He did not throw an interception for the first time in 7 weeks. Brooks had thrown multiple picks in each of his last 4 games. Rod Smith broke the 1,000-yard mark on the season for receiving yards with his performance this week. He caught 6 balls for 76 yards and a 22-yard touchdown grab.

`It`s as high as you can get to as low as you can get,` a dejected AB`s Burn coach Alex Bryant said. `You go from thinking you`re going to win to realizing you`ve lost the game.`

Larry Johnson silences rowdy McJunk`s Bowl Birds crowd
Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources

Philadelphia(12/21/2004) — After spending four quarters trying to give away a victory, the Jersey Devils got one anyway -- courtesy of the McJunk`s Bowl Birds.

Larry Johnson racked up 151 rushing yards on 30 carries and scored on runs of 5 and 32 yards. He has scored in his last 4 games and scored twice in each of his last 3 games. Drew Brees completed 4 of just 6 pass attempts, and yes, he played the entire game. He picked up 86 yards with most of them coming on his 72-yard touchdown pass. Joe Horn scored a touchdown for the fifth straight week and for the seventh time in 7 weeks. He caught 4 passes for 64 yards and scored on a 4-yard reception.

`We just returned the favor,` Jersey Devils coach George Tidwell said after being reminded of the comments made earlier this week by Jay Junkin.

Santana Moss pulled in 5 passes for 79 yards and scored twice. Three of Moss` four touchdowns have come in the last 4 weeks.

`I am absolutely stunned with this loss,` said McJunk`s Bowl Birds coach Jay Junkin, whose team apparently was a bit overconfident coming into the game.

QB Michael Vick scores 17 points, leads Stuttgart Knights to 102-67 victory
Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources

Stuttgart (12/21/2004) — It looked like the Rheu Maniacs scouts failed to do their jobs as the Stuttgart Knights pulled off a big 102-67 win.

Michael Vick had a poor passing day, going 11 of 28 for 154 yards with 2 scores and 2 picks. He also picked up 68 yards rushing and dove in for a score on a 12-yard scramble. Fred Taylor broke off several big runs as he averaged 7.5 yards per carry and scored for the 3rd time this season on a 37-yard run. He racked up 165 yards on 22 carries. Randy Moss caught 4 balls for 102 yards and an 82-yard score. He has caught 4 passes in 4 straight weeks and he has broken the 100-yard mark and scored in the past 2 games.

`I had it in my mind,` Stuttgart Knights coach Frank Demeraski said. `I knew we were scoring a lot of points, but I didn`t know how many until I looked at the scoreboard. We were just trying to move the ball and end our drives in the end zone.`

Nate Burleson racked up 134 yards on 5 receptions including 2 long touchdown receptions from 36 and 37 yards out. It was his third 100-yard game of the season. David Carr completed less than 50% of his passes for the second time in 3 weeks. He completed 13 of 28 attempts for 220 yards and a 37-yard score, his longest score in 12 weeks. Brian Westbrook failed to reach the end zone for the second game in a row. Westbrook rushed 12 times for 48 yards and caught 8 passes for 78 yards.

`Maybe I`m not a good enough coach, but I try to make decisions,` said Rheu Maniacs coach Eric Schoen `I don`t know why we had such a poor week offensively. I do what I can do. I just do my job.`

QB Daunte Culpepper shines in win with 29 points
Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources

Stuttgart(12/21/2004) — Monika Demeraski came into the game with an aggressive plan and the Blaue Goetter executed to perfection as they beat the lifeless D.C. Cowboys 56-42.

Daunte Culpepper broke the 400-yard passing mark for the second time this season. Culpepper completed 25 of 35 passes for 404 yards and 3 long range scores from 36, 82 and 37 yards out.

`Being 9-11 doesn`t mean a thing,` said Blaue Goetter coach Monika Demeraski. `The Minnesota Vikings were 15-1 one year and they didn`t win it all.`

Edgerrin James scored his 9th touchdown of the season on a 3-yard run, one of his 22 carries that netted him 69 yards. He also picked up 23 yards on his only reception of the game. Donovan McNabb has scored at least once in each of his last 6 games. This week he completed 20 of 35 pass attempts for 223 yards with a 2-yard score and 2 interceptions.

`I`ve had good luck in this stadium in the past.` D.C. Cowboys coach China Roberts said. `But you`re only as good as your last game, and I`m not very good right now.`

Regal Jaguars win; Billy Volek the difference
Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources

Richmond(12/21/2004) — The Regal Jaguars shut down Mark Brunell and company to beat the Woodbridge Saints 69-18.

Billy Volek got caught up in another shoot out on Sunday. Volek completed 40 of 60 pass attempts for 492 yards and 4 touchdowns and he also ran in a score from 1 yard out. Drew Bennett has been on fire with 8 touchdown receptions in his last 3 games. This week he caught 13 passes for 160 yards and 2 touchdown receptions from 17 and 23 yards out. Keyshawn Johnson brought down 5 passes for 61 yards and scored on a 7-yard strike. He has caught touchdown passes in 2 of his last 3 games.

`It took us the whole game to get going, but we won,` Regal Jaguars coach Jenaro Centeno said. `Can you call this game ugly? I guess you could say that.`

Rudi Johnson is trying to finish strong as he posted his second best rushing performance of the season. He carried 24 times for 130 yards and scored on a 3-yard run up the middle.

`I guess you`d have to say Jenaro Centeno got the final word today,` Woodbridge Saints coach Kevin Cassidy said.

Curtis Martin deals Uptown Crush another loss
Statsworld.com Fantasy Sources

Washington (12/21/2004) — This one was a tense, hard-hitting game that sidelined Jersey Giants and Uptown Crush star players -- exactly the kind of game the longtime rivals have played in the past.

Curtis Martin picked up 134 yards on 24 carries and scored on runs from 1 and 3 yards out. With 2 games left Martin is in reach of career marks for attempts, yards and scores. Muhsin Muhammad has scored in his last 3 games and in 5 of his last 6 games. He caught 10 passes for the second time in 3 weeks and turned them into 135 yards with a 6-yard score. Jake Plummer`s interception problem continues to mount. He has thrown 8 picks in his last 3 games. This week he threw 2 interceptions with 1 score on 23 of 41 passes for 292 yards.

`This is special,` Jersey Giants coach Jim & Celeste Mihalik said. `The Uptown Crush had a blueprint to beat us, and everyone counted us out. But we won!`

Michael Pittman caught 2 passes for 10 yards and carried the ball 24 times for 131 yards, but failed to score for the second consecutive week and lost a fumble for the 5th time this year.

`We have to finish off games like this,` Julian Young said. `It`s natural for us to get frustrated and say things we don`t mean. We can`t let that happen. We`ll pull through it.`
