  The N J R O T C program is an elective course available at  South Sumter High School in grades 9 through 12.  The goals of the    program are to develop informed and responsible citizens and to strengthen character, self discipline, respect for authority, and knowledge about the mission and opportunities in the uniformed services. NJROTC is entirely voluntary.  It does not obligate the  student to military service of in any kind.  All books and uniforms are provided. Students are required to care for the books as they would any others provided by the school and to maintain properly  wear the uniform as specified in the Cadet field Manual and a Cadet Handbook.
