FRY BREAD

"Greg likes his with ham and cheese, Chris with sugar and cinnamon. I like mine plane or with choke cherry spread. Any way you make then, I have never had anyone who didn't come back for seconds."

Ingredients:
3 tablespoons each of yeast, flour and baking soda
2 tablespoons sugar
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix all dry ingredients.
Make pocket in dough. Add dissolved yeast and some warm water.
Gradually stir in flour to liquid. When done you should have a soft dough
that is not sticky like biscuit or bread dough. Knead until mixed.
Cover and place in a warm spot for about 20 min. Roll into small balls and flatten
(I pull with my hands), or you can roll not too thin with rolling pin.
Fry in lard or shortening.

TAFFY

2 cups Molasses
1 tbsp. vinegar
Set on low heat. Cook to hard ball stage.
Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
When done stir in 1/ 4 teaspoon soda
and stir briskly until light and foamy.
Pour into buttered pan and set until cool enough to handle.
Butter hands and pull one half of taffy at a time
until it hardens and looses stickiness.
Pull to desired length. Break and wrap in wax paper.

What's a kitchen without a good cup of coffee and a nice looking plant?

I adopted my houseplant from
the Gayla's Garden Houseplant Adoption Center!
