Danny's Childhood and Patterns of Behavior

Daniel Harold Rolling was born on May 26, 1954, to Claudia Beatrice and James Harold Rolling. They lived in a modest home in Shreveport, Louisiana. Immediately following Daniel's birth, his mother began to get the feeling that James was not accepting the baby and that he was jealous. Abuse began soon after, beginning by James denying Claudia the right to show her child affection and even not allowing her to pick him up as he lay there crying. At six months old Danny was dragged down the hall by his leg because his father didn't like the way it "crippled up" under him. One year later, Claudia gave birth to a second son who was named Kevin. The abuse form their father lasted throughout their childhoods, being hit and even tied up were common events in the Rolling home.

The Warning Signs

• Had problems in school since the third grade.
• Attempted to commit suicide on several accounts.
• Spent two weeks in jail at the age of 13 for use of alcohol.
• Dismissed from the Air Force for drug and alcohol problems.
• Arrested for voyeurism during his three year marraige.
• Spent eight years in prison on a number of robbery charges.
• Tried to escape prison twice but was re-caught.
• Shot his father in the head during an argument.
