Jan. 2006: The Warden is now Mr. Ruffin.
No more family nights (not since Ruffin)
Contraband is being smuggled in by guards
(taped to ankles)
Lying CO's (no surprise)
Overcrowded Confinement areas
Gang activity being used by staff to "keep
control"
Please, take the gold star down and put the stop sign up. This place is HORRIBLE!.
What a difference a warden makes! All the praises written below about the prison under Mr. Lawson has to be rescinded under Mr. Ruffin. Lake City CF is no longer a Gold Star facility.

AND THANK YOU TO A GREAT WARDEN, FRED LAWSON!!
Last Friday night, April 19th, 2002, I was fortunate enough to attend "Family Night" at Lake City CF, in Lake City, Fl. Families were allowed to have dinner with our loved ones. I still can't believe this, but we were actually allowed to bring food from the outside, any kind of food we wanted!!
They decorated the place, even included tablecloths and ribbons!! It was indeed a class act!!

P.S . It was kinda funny though when they searched the food!! But even this was still done in a professional manner!

I just wanted to say a big thank you for allowing Ms Boland to arrange the "Family Night". It was certainly appreciated! Ms Boland did an excellent job and in my book, it was a real class act.
I especially appreciated Ms Thomas, one of the counselors, being there and taking time to introduce herself.
Also, Ms Brooks took the time to introduce herself, as we had been
corresponding per a public record request that I had made.
It certainly appears you have a professional team at this location and I wanted you to know that this mom really appreciates the concern towards our loved ones & the professionalism at this prison.
As you can see, I have sent copies to my State Senator and State
Representative, as well as the Chairman of the Corrections Committee.
It is obvious to me that the State-run prisons need to take lessons from the private-run prisons, or more specifically, Lake City CF.
Good job! It was appreciated!!

Historical Information: This facility was established in 1997 to house male youthful offender inmates.
It is operated by Corrections Corporation of America under contract with the Corrections Privatization Commission.
Directions to prison: From I-75, go east on US-90, approximately 12 miles. Facility is on the right.
