March 17th, 2005 - MTWT GOLD STAR NOMINATION
Hi Kay Lee - I would like to nominate Sergeant Lisa Lawrence at Jackson Work Camp in Malone Florida as one of the good guys. This sergeant has assisted me many times with problems and questions between myself, my incarcerated loved one and DOC. She listens and, more importantly, she reacts to situations. If I'm wrong (and sometimes I am) she explains in detail but if I'm right she will correct the situation to the best of her ability. She is a wonderful woman who has treated me with respect and friendliness. She really cares and that is special. Thanks for all the information and support. Lee
Lee, MTWT is pleased to present the
Gold Star Award for professionalism to Sgt. Lawrence. She exemplifies the ethics of the system we are striving for. May we find many more like her in the department. Kay Lee
July 10, 2003 - "I wanted to tell you about some things that are going on in the North end of Florida prison system. I can't mention any names because the person is due to get out soon. But this was at Jackson Correctional Institution at Malone, Fl.
The prison has shut down all of the programs for the inmates. They were also without power or water for some time. A teacher didn't show up to teach and the men were lined up to go to class and a guard came and told them there would be no more classes of any kind. They were not even allowed to go back for their things that were left in the class room.
It seems that there is so much unrest all over the state. It has to be because of Crosby and his goons. He seems to be moving his top notch goons into the positions in every prison to cause this trouble."
SENDING MONEY TO PRISONERS
DOC's Service Center
UNSANITARY CONDITIONS
The inmates are given dirty clothes, dirty bed linens, & stinky boots. Poor hygiene explains why so many inmates may enter prison healthy and become ill before release.
Jackson CI states they are up to code, but the code does not include issuing filthy property.
An unannounced inspection should be in order!

Horace Hankerson, is enroute to Jackson CI in Malone , Fl
Mr. Hankerson has been transferred from Taylor CI, because he has been blamed for the abundance of information emanating from Taylor concerning abuse and errant guard behavior. He is now traveling through North Florida Reception Center (AKA BUTLER CI). It is imperative to keep an eye on Horace, as guard retaliation, as well as racism, play a big part in his situation.
