Introductions

Dave, Kay, I want you to meet each other. Dave was a sergeant where my son was at Hendry CI.

Hendry CI was so bad that he had to resign, because he did not want to be a part of the wickedness. Dave had over 10 years with the DOC and never had a  "use of force". Is that right, Dave? Another officer that had over 12 years also resigned, due to the brutal & wicked conditions.

This is just so sad that the DOC has professionals, willing to abide by the laws & rules, but yet the DOC doesn't care one bit. What is wrong with these people?

I really & truly think a lawsuit could be won by former correctional officers, with a good attorney and especially with showing a pattern.

Kay, please help  Dave and the other former employees who resigned, because they couldn't or rather WOULDN'T take it any more!

Dave faxed a resignation letter to the warden on October 4, 2001 and I believe followed up with another letter to Michael Moore.

Kay, he loves your website! Go for it.  I include his name and email!!

Some other former officers may feel more comfortable with giving their names & emails to him for the potential lawsuit!!  This good man was the DOC's loss.

Talk soon,
Lindy

Subject: Former Sergeant at Hendry CorRuptional Institution

Hello Kay,

Lindy is correct, in the ten (10) years with the Department of "Corruption" (if you pull my file) you'll discover I NEVER ONCE had a use of force -- ever!  I always resolved issues without resulting to hands-on, as many at Hendry would prefer.  I have a binder of what occurred with me that's at least 2 inches thick, filled with documented proof of harassment by this dysfunctional agency.

I have approximately 200+ pages of records I requested from the EEO Bureau of the Dept of Corrections, and the Div. of Management.  Incidentally, the Florida PBA (The Officers' Union) is also one of the most corrupt organizations I have ever seen.  I received a copy of an email sent by Al Shopp, (a high ranking PBA Official), which clearly shows "cover up" and collaboration with the Dept. of Corrections.  This information took me 6 months to obtain, and I can put it all together for an attorney or someone who will make a difference.

My resignation letter, and follow-up letter (e-mail) to Secretary Moore is Public Record.  This information can be pulled directly from my file (Florida Sunshine Law), which is located at the Ft. Lauderdale Service Center (Region IV).

I'm a former Sergeant who voluntarily resigned from Hendry Correctional Institution because of constant harassment, corrupt management, and abuse which I didn't agree with.  In my 10 years with the Department, I "never" had a use-of-force.  I graduated with the highest award achievable in my academy class, and like the letter below says, I believe Correctional Officers are supposed to help and rehabilitate, not belittle and corporally punish juveniles.  Another Officer who resigned on the same day I did (October 4, 2001), had over 12 years of service and only one (1) use-of-force.

The following letter was sent to the department, various media, and for some unknown reason -- anonymously sent to me.  It sparked a huge investigation at Hendry Correctional which lasted well over two weeks.  After reading your article about Hendry Correctional possibly closing, I thought you would find this letter interesting.  If interested, I (Sergeant) and another (Officer) with over 22 years of service combined, will gladly provide you with an in depth interview concerning this corrupt institution and their unethical practices.

Any questions, don't hesitate to email me.

Regards,
Dave
