"For using FOX gas on inmates for minor offenses such as unmade beds, not being fully dressed, etc. Before Crosby, gas was reported as only used when necessary. Now gassing is a daily occurrence. Charlotte guards are bragging that James Crosby gave these orders:
"Guards aren't tough enough on inmates, they have gotten soft.

REGARDING LT. POCCIA AT CHARLOTTE CI:
By the way, Concerning Lt. R. Poccia at Charlotte C.I. I see you got that he was at FSP??. That....is not true, he was hired on at C.C.I and went to the school in ft. myers, and has NEVER been anywhere else. He HAS told inmates that he use to work at FSP, just to make himself look like a BIG C.O. but believe you me, he has never been out of Charlotte. Once he made Lt. His head and attitude got WAY out of Control. He is one that went from Correctional Officer to Guard, and it's a shame.
I've known Poccia for some time and he has NEVER left Charlotte. He joined the Goon Squad, and the C.E.R.T Team after he got his feet wet, and started hanging out with the Higher up's to get ahead, and lost track of the goals, his focus and basically his good human instinct of being a good Correctional officer. It's a shame.

There are documented cases that DOC DOES NOT follow their own procedures and guidelines...SO why should we believe they followed correct procedures in this unfortunate situation. I feel CO Latherm's death was UNnecessary...It's ludicrous that she was assigned to "supervise" these 5 men AFTER DARK!!
IF the "officers" at Charlotte were following correct PROCEDURE this young woman would still be alive today!!

From DOC's own CMA PUBLIC records we found proof that guards at various institution aren't following the DOC proper procedures...Correctional Medical Authority Contacts

They do NOT follow procedure but rather change it to fit their needs at any given time. GASSING of inmates is ROUTINE...
So, please, keep DIGGING...

AT CHARLOTTE CIOn May 8, 1997 at the Charlotte Correctional Institution 33123 Oil Well Road, Punta Gorda, Florida 33955, Correctional Officer William Savage kicked the cell door in and he and Correctional Officer Edwin Cardenas came into my cell and began to stomp and punch me violently because I couldn’t find my medical pass that permits me to wear a 1/4" beard and moustache. They made me lay on the cell’s floor, handcuffed me behind my back and continued to stomp, kick and slug me with their clenched fists as I lay there in my own blood. Then these officers took me downstairs to the shower. On the way downstairs they hit me several times in my head (the back portion) with handcuffs being used like brass knuckles. Once in the shower stall these officers repeatedly smashed my head into the wall and hit on me.
The guys in the unit dorm I was living in just started going crazy, banging and yelling for the officers to stop beating me. Finally the officers stopped beating on me, left me in the shower stall still handcuffed behind my back as I’d been since being brought downstairs from my cell.
The beating I endured left me confined to a hospital bed for 22 days. Vision in my left eye is permanently impaired."SHARIF'S EX-OFFENDER RESOURCES
