GOOD JOB AT BAY CF

Bay Correctional Facility Commencement
I simply have to share this with you. We just returned from commencement exercises where we witnessed not only my son graduate from high school (GED), but 79 other inmates who graduated from various programs. One young man graduated from our local community college, Gulf Coast CC. Bay CF is managed by CCA and under Warden Spivey's leadership, they are doing an outstanding job. When you consider their inmate population, which I believe is 700 plus, that many completions is a credit to those inmates who stayed the course and to the instructors who encouraged them all the way. Not only was the ceremony professionally done, but the reception was wonderful. I just wanted all of you to know that not all of CCA is ill-managed here in Panama City. Leadership is the key. I pray that the new leader of the Florida DOC knows to earn respect you must give respect. As parents and friends, we were not only! treated with respect, but the instructors made a special point to come by and speak with each of us who had a loved one in their program, as well as with our loved one. Mike was so happy and so were 79 other inmates. What a blessing!. God bless Warden Spivey and his staff for a truly outstanding job. Pearl
PRIVATE PRISON Nominated for the
MTWT Gold Star Award
It's too rare that we hear compliments about Florida prisons or staff, so I really enjoy receiving the nominations. We are pleased to give recognition for a job well done to Bay CF. Kay Lee
"I simply have to tell you all that one facility in the system, Bay Correctional Facility, where my son was recently transferred, is not your normal Florida prison. The COs are professional, and for the first time in 2 and a half years, we visited and did not feel like criminals.
"Two staff members in particular were extremely helpful to us,Tina McCollough, and
Chen Fen Goodwin. Both have gone the extra mile to help us with questions and visitation.
"I agree that prison is no picnic for any inmate, but I have to give this facility and its warden credit. The staff is only as good as the leadership. Obviously, he's providing good leadership. Just thought you should all know about our good experience.
"When I first joined The LOLITS, I remember Bea telling me we should point out the good when it happens. It finally happened for our family! God bless you all, and you're always in my prayers.
"I've already typed a letter and sent it to the warden. I'm not afraid of these folks. On the other hand, I was not comfortable with the COs at Jefferson or that prison. I'm so blessed that my son is away from there. Do you hear anything about that particular prison?
"Thanks so much."While it is true that prison is not meant to be a picnic, Bay CF demonstrates that every prison should have a reward system in place. It simply generates better behavior and a safer working environment. Kay Lee
LOVER BOY
by
Gary Brooks Waid
For the full story of Barry Johnson's escapades in the FL DOC, see
"LOVER BOY" [ http://www.angelfire.com/la/kaylee/loverboy.html
] by
Gary Brooks Waid. NOTE: As always Be aware of
strong, adult language
contained in Gary Waid's hard-hitting tales.
I want to give you a little run down on this private prison, Bay CI, because ex-guard, Barry Neil Johnson is doing his comfortable time here. I noticed on the "Offender Search" page of the DOC website [ http://www.dc.state.fl.us/inmateinfo/inmateinfomenu.asp ] that they portray the guard/prisoner/sex-offender in the best light possible, listing his crime as "Adult Sex W/16-17 yr old", a gracious way to say "child molester", a benefit the DOC does not give other sex offenders. Guilty of same charges twice: Once on 6/10 in Clay County and again on 6/22 in Bradford County.
I noticed that Barry Johnson is also living in much better conditions than others who are incarcerated for the same offense. Compare his plight to that of 16 year old Adrian Soles, whose mental skills were far behind those of the 14 year old girl who was his first and only girlfriend. He and Barry Johnson are guilty of the same crime, but Adrian's "crime" is listed as LEWD ASLT/SEX BAT VCTM while Barry Johnson's crime is listed as ADLT SEX W/16-17 YR OLD.
Read Gary Waid's story "About Sanity" http://www.angelfire.com/la/kaylee/sanity.html which is really about Adrian Sole, and then read Adrian's own story http://www.angelfire.com/la/kaylee/gone.html
Then go to http://www.angelfire.com/fl3/starke/creamdogg.html Take a look at the shocking pictures and note the change in Adrian once he was away from his tormenting guards and the in his face today where he lives at Everglades CI. And then look what they've done to David Vickery, the inmate the guards used to pay to beat up on Adrian: Then tell me something really wrong hasn't been going on.
It's for sure these things won't happen to Barry Johnson. For him, the guards will be lenient and respectful. Johnson will emerge from prison in the same condition he went in with, but the same can never be said about Adrian nor David.
The only thing that could make such a huge difference in the conditions of punishment afforded the three "inmates" is one used to be a guard.
Many of you have said that "inmates deserve what they get" and "once a child molester, always a child molester". My question is, doesn't the double standard bother you at all? It sure strains the credibility of the DOC in my mind.
