To answer e-mail questions I have received, I have no current plans on making the earlier design scoop.

Installing the Dude Scoop on a 2nd Generation T/A:
I think this will work with just about 99% of the intakes out there and custom applications. I used this same Dude Scoop deal with both a Holley Street Dominator manifold and the Edelbrock Performer manifold. This set up makes no difference where or high your carb sits. I also have included pic to show how easy this is.
First; Find a raised base air cleaner assembly. I used an old Triangle type I had lying around but any 14” or smaller unit will work. I flattened out the lip so it would fit tight against a 1/8” piece of Aluminum. I made my aluminum sheet oversize to help seal the incoming air under the assembly better and you can make it large enough to drill for spark plug placement to check or change plugs. My aluminum plate measures…………………

Next: I put the base on the carb and mounted the aluminum plate where I wanted it and marked it.
Then cut out the center for the opening in the aluminum to match the opening in the top the carb and base unit. Next I used a strip of foam, measured and cut them the width and length of the scoop on 3 or 4 sides. I used the sides and back. And left the front alone as I had to cut it at an angle anyway.
Next I sat the Dude Scoop on the foam and closed the hood to check for fit. Easy and you are checking for fit so be careful on closing the hood. You now can cut the foam to height. I had to angle cut it to get the same height front to back.
***I also found that Truck bed topper seal tape works great on the topside of the scoop to seal against the hood.

I then center the scoop, set it where I wanted it and mark where I want the upper Tape sealer to mount. Then I raised the hood. I marked the aluminum were the foam mounts. Now you are ready to glue it fast. 3M adhesive spray (Part # ) works the best. I glued the foam to the Aluminum first and let sit. Then I re mounted the scoop on the foam and close the hood to double check to make sure all fits as I want it to. Then I spray the underside of the scoop and mount it to the foam. I quickly close the hood partially and move the scoop to exactly where I want it. Now I raise the hood, apply the topper tape, and close the hood and let sit with weight on it let it set up. I set mine so it shuts firmly and has a little pressure on it to keep the water out.
Now for the Air filter mount:
I found that the K & N 11” Extreme lid fit nicely. I used a piece of threaded rod stock and cut it to fit under the scoop with a couple of inches clearance from the top.
I recommend also using a nut tightened against the carb to keep the threaded rod from working loose. Next, I used house window or screen door felt and glued it around the base of the Plastic K & N Extreme lid to help seal out debris and dirt. I then placed the lid over the stud and with a wing nut tightened it down.

Done…….. Finished……….. And an effective DUDE SCOOP with a Washable Air Cleaner too.
