The Pace Presbyterian Church Story
|
|
Pace Presbyterian Church sits on 8 acres of property donated in 1971 by Dr. and Mrs. E.V. Anderson. In 1992, God brought together a small group of people and gave them a vision of a new church on this site in Pace Florida.
A year later, our first pastor, Steve Rhodes, arrived and services began in the cafeteria of S.S. Dixon Primary school.
In 1994, the growing congregation moved into a temporary modular building on the current church property, and was officially chartered by the Presbytery of Florida as its 43rd church.
On August 16, 1998, our current church building was dedicated. Membership had reached approximately 160 people by that time.
In the Fall of 2000, Steve Rhodes was called to another church in North Carolina, and Pace Presbyterian Church began the process of selecting its second leader. On January 1, 2001, Pastor Frank Beall, retired from Trinity Presbyterian Church in Pensacola, accepted the postion of interim minister to lead the church until a new permanent pastor was selected. A pastoral search committee was chartered in February, 2001. After a lengthy and prayerful search, the committee was led to Pastor Shuford White, who was installed as our second permanant pastor in October 2002. |
