David Pirro and his Mother were driving down a street in Ft.Lauderdale, Fla. when a car came up behind them and the driver started honking his horn and waving at them. David's mother thought the driver wanted to pass, but when she pulled off to the side, he pulled off with them.

"You like the Bills?" the man asked after noticing the Bills license plate on the car.

"Yeah," they answered.

"Im a Bill," the man said.

It was indeed a Bill- free safety Daryl Porter. Porter is a Ft. Lauderdale native who still lives there in the off-season.

The chance of meeting was quite a thrill for the 14-year-old Pirro. He had been supporting the Bills and collecting their autographs from attending the team's training camp in 1998 or writing to his favorite players and coaches. He's attended the Bills at Miami game seven straight seasons. After the game, he stands outside waiting for the players to come out so he can talk to them and get their autographs. His knowledge of the Bills is so good that other autograph hounds rely on him to point out the lesser-known players so they can get signatures too.

Pirro has met Jim Kelly twice. The last time was on a one-day cruise to benefit Hunter's Hope. He's also gotten a letter and autograph from Ralph Wilson and an autographed picture of Marv Levy, the result of a letter he sent thanking the coach for his years of service to the Bills.

When Bruce Smith was released by the Bills in the off-season, it was a sad day for Pirro. "It hurt when Bruce went to the Redskins," he said. "I was crying. That really hurt. I still love him." However even with out Smith, he thinks the Bills will finish 9-7 or 10-6 if Rob Johnson can stay healthy.

Pirro has a web site devoted to the Bills: sackmarino.cjb.net. Obviously, he has a disliking for the Miami Dolphins. He must be true blue.
