LANARK VILLAGE INFORMATION

OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS







Welcome to all our homeowners, tenants, and visitors. Lanark Village has many amenities available for your convenience and pleasure. Whether you are a year around resident or a part time resident, we need you to join us in keeping our neighborhood a pleasant place to live. Homes are for sale or rent by local realtors or owners. There are studio and 1-2-3 bedroom units located within the Lanark Village Subdivision.




CHILLAS HALL ON HEFFERNAN DRIVE, LANARK VILLAGE


We urge all Residents to join our Association. The Lanark Village Association has it's monthly meeting on the first Monday of each month. All property owners and residents who live in the Lanark Village Water District 90 days or longer during the year are eligible to become voting members by submitting an application for membership and a donation of $10.00 per person per year. All residents are welcome at the meetings. A monthly newsletter "LV TATTLER", is sent to all members listing forthcoming activities and community information.

There are many committees within the organization and all members are encouraged to join a committee and become an active member of the Association. The Association, through its by-laws, functions as a constituted organization representing the residents in the District. Through its concerted action obtain local, county and state support in furthering ends conceived to be the best for its protection and advancement.

The streetlights within the village are paid for by the Association with donations from the residents and with the proceeds from coffee hour. Residents can donate $12.00 when they make their annual membership donation.



SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

Chillas Hall is our Social Meeting Hall, Volunteers serve coffee each morning from 8:30am to 10:30am - 11am except Sundays. Bring a covered dish and join us on the third Sunday of each month at 1pm for dinner. Friday night from 7pm - 10pm is card and game night for those who wish to come to the hall and play. Renting of Chillas Hall is available to members or other Community Clubs.

The Village has a park located directly across the street from Chillas Hall available for picnics with your family and friends. Including picnic tables, shuffle board court and more.



HOBBY CLUB chaired by Sue Dowling

Hobby Club consists of people who gather together and work on their most favorite project while socializing with friends and discussing projects. Hobby meets every Monday from 1pm - 3:30pm. Refreshments are served.



WANDERING STAR QUILTERS CLUB chaired by Carole Lawlor

Wandering Star meets every Thursday from 1pm - 4pm at Chillas Hall. Quilters work on community projects and often have guest speakers who demonstrate their talents. A Quilt Show is held every other year and visitors are sometimes asked to participate in the judging of quilt entries.



TRANSPORTATION

The Village has a bus (Lanark Village Travellers, Inc.) which transports villagers (for a small fee) to Carrabelle, Apalachicola, and Crawfordville, alternating each week for shopping and doctor visits, and to Tallahassee twice a month for shopping. Travellers plans trips to other areas and the itinerary is posted on the bulletin board at Chillas Hall and on this web site on our Calendar of Events Page. Travellers raises money to maintain the bus with a Bingo night each Wednesday evening at 6:30 sharp at Chillas Hall. Bingo is not played during the months of June, July, & August. Come and support our Bus Company



POSTAL SERVICE

The Lanark Village Post Office, zip code 32323, is located in the same building as Chillas Hall. The post office is open 7 days a week, 24hrs a day. No window service is available but stamp machines are provided. Mail is usually in the boxes by 9:30am. If other postal services are required, residents can go 4 miles west to the Carrabelle Post Office.



THRIFT SHOP

The Thrift Shop is located on Heffernan Drive just past the post office and behind the mini mall. They are open Monday thru Thursday from 9am to Noon. It is serviced by volunteers from various local organizations and all monies earned are donated locally. They are always in need of your donations of saleable household items, small appliances, etc. STOP BY AND SEE WHAT TREASURE YOU MAY FIND AT PRICES THAT ARE UNBELIEVABLY LOW.



WATER AND SEWER DEPARTMENT Chairman - Jim Lawlor

The Lanark Village Water and Sewer Department is located on Warren Street and is open weekdays from 9am till 1pm. They hold their monthly meeting at Chillas Hall on the third Tuesday of each month at 7pm...



EMERGENCY SERVICES

For all Emergency Services: Fire -- Ambulance -- Police CALL 911. Give your name: full street address and building number. An ambulance, which has advanced life support, is stationed in the Village, on Parker Avenue




ST. JAMES-LANARK VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT - OAK STREET

The St. James - Lanark Volunteer Fire Department is located on Oak Street and Collins Avenue. Monthly meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 7pm. The fire department raises money with a weekly Bingo night which is held on Tuesday Evening at 7pm at the fire house. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED, ALWAYS.. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BECOMING A MEMBER, COME TO OUR NEXT MEETING.





SURRVEILLANCE PATROL

Both men and women of the community maintain a volunteer neighborhood surveillance patrol on a 24-hour tour, 7 days a week. Patrols are carried out in a specially marked car supplied by the Franklin County Sheriff's Department. The car has radio contact with the Franklin County Sheriff's dispatcher. Meetings are held at Chillas Hall on the fourth Monday of the month at 4:30pm. If you are interested in becoming a member of this neighborhood watch team, contact Jim Young or John Chandler.



CHURCHES


THE COMMUNITY CHURCH LOCATED AT SPRING AND OAK STREETS.

The service on Sunday is at 10:30am. They have a Men's Breakfast once a month and a Women's Christian Fellowship Circle meeting on the third Tuesday of each month at 1pm.


SACRED HEART ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH - HWY 98 - EAST OF LANARK VILLAGE

Sunday Mass is held at 10am with refreshments following in the Church Hall and Daily Masses are held Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday at 9:30am in the Chapel at the Priest's house on Spring Street and Newman Drive. The Ladies Guild of the Catholic Church meets in the Church Hall the last Wednesday of each month at 1pm.



LANARK VILLAGE GOLF CLUB

We have a Golf Club - Dues are reasonable: Membership is $50 a year and for each game played on our 6 hole golf course (located on Hwy 98 off Heffernan Drive - Parker Avenue)is $2.00 for members and $5.00 for non-members. Since no one attends the Starting Tee, donations for playing the course are on an honor system. A slotted box is supported there for receiving monies for play. Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7pm at Chillas Hall.




LANARK VILLAGE BOAT CLUB - HYW 98 - LANARK VILLAGE

On the south side of Hwy 98 on St. George Sound is our Boat Club and Marina. Membership is $10 per year per person. Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at7:30pm at the Boat Club. Refreshments are served at each meeting. On the third Satuday of the month from October thru May, the Boat Club serves pancakes and/or french toast, sausage, orange juice, and coffee from 9am - Noon. You will be asked to donate the sum set for the day to support this activity.

Occasionally, there are ice cream socials, a fish fry, and two bazaars sponsored each year. The Boat Club also has a marina with a boat ramp. Boats can be launched for a reasonable fee. There are some boat slips, which are rented out each year, and they are available from time to time, so get your name on the list if you think you would like to keep your boat at a slip..One more thing, you don't have to own a boat to be a member of this local organization.



THE GARDEN CLUB

The Yaupon Garden Club is located in Carrabelle on Avenue F and meets the first Wednesday of each month at 1pm. Many of the members and officers are residents of Lanark Village. The programs cover a wide range of interests as well as Florida gardening. Refreshments are served after each meeting.



AMERICAN LEGION /CAMP GORDON JOHNSTON POST 82

The American Legion Post 82 is located west of the Village on Louisiana Street. Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month. The Ladies Auxiliary meets at 2pm, the Sons of Legionaries meet at 7pm and the Legionaires meet at 7:30pm. Post 82 is very active and community orientated. During emergencis, it is available as a shelter and at all other times it is a place to hold dances, meetings, fish fries and bingo. Bingo is held every Friday at 6pm and every Sunday at 2pm.
