The Sons of The American Legion (S.A.L.) is a program of The American Legion established in 1932 in Portland, Oregon. Since then, the S.A.L. have assisted The American Legion with their programs and activities.

MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

All male descendants, adopted sons and grandsons of members of the American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans of who died in service during World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, and the Persian Gulf War, or who died subsequent to their Honorable Discharge from such service, shall be eligible for membership in the Sons of the American Legion.

World War I April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918
World War II December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946
Korean War June 25, 1950 to January 31, 1955
Vietnam War February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975
Grenada and Lebanon August 24, 1982 to July 31, 1984
Panama December 20, 1989 to January 31, 1990
Persian Gulf August 2, 1990 closing date to be determined
