of the term "unit": Joining is not granted automatically. How to join IOW 2 The squadron's CO writes an email to the administrator (Axis/VVS). Each squadron has to implement a well-visible link to IOW2 on their homepage. Squads that do not implement such an link will be removed from IOW2. We will provide all webmasters with a banner they can use for the link. The squad's CO will get a password from the administrator allowing him to enter the pilots of his unit to the IOW2 database. He can upload personal pictures for the pilot files in a designated format so each member has a individual pilot file allowing him to identify with his virtual pilot. In IOW 2 there are 2 units for non-aligned, freelance pilots: RED and BLUE. RED fights for the VVS side, BLUE for the Axis side. Players can only join one of these units and only once! If a player enlists twice he will get deleted and banned from IOW 2! · Every squad must have a minimum of 4 members able to take part in a mission. · Every squad places a link at www.iow-hq.de <http://www.iow-hq.de> · Every squad has to have a commander-in-chief · It is not possible for a squad to join under a name already used and/or registered in the DB. For example III/JG26 can only exist one single time; no other squad can register under the same name! It is therefore more sensible for all squads with full names (for example JG26) to create and register a group with a group name (like III/JG26 or I/JG26), to give more squads the opportunity to register and join the game. · No squads fighting under alternating flags will be admitted, e. g. sometimes they fight for the Allies, other times they fight for the Axis side. · Each side has a unit for independent freelance pilots. Each player may only be registered once. · Each unit and each member has to obey the Rules Of War stated here unconditionally! · Joining IOW 2 does not work automatically. A player who is accepted to join IOW 2 will receive a message from the administration. A player who is declined will not receive a message. In the case of any changes (for example: an unit participated on Axis side in IOW 1 and wants to fly for VVS now) the decision whether this squad will be accepted or not is up to the appropriate side's High Command. · Every player has to provide us with a valid email address of his internet service provider or his squadron (for example: @t-online.de or @jg26.de) in order to help us to keep track of multiple enlistments. Email addresses containing @msn, @yahoo, @gmx or @hotmail will not be accepted under certain circumstances. · Players who are enlisted multiple times will be deleted and banned immediately · IOW 2 administration has the option to decline certain players who are known for their unacceptable behaviour from IOW 1. The squadron's commander has to accept this for this is no subject to discussion.
General Terms · Each person who is enlisted in our IOW database is allowed to participate in the war. All new members of a squadron that is enlisted already have to be entered into the database before they are allowed to participate. To do this squads can use the internal administration section IOW is providing. Unit commanders have to assure that all callsigns and names of their pilots are spelled exactly the same way in the database as they are in the online lobbys. · All entries to the war database are done by the unit commanders. The entries have to adhere to the following syntax: "Unit_PlayerCallsign" Violations will be punished! Normal alphabetical letters and normal numbers are allowed only! · Only missions designed and allowed by the IOW administration that are downloaded via the IOW-Host.exe file may be flown. Manipulating the mission files or the logfile is forbidden and will result in immediate deletion! · A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 16 pilots may participate. It is irrelevant, whether the game is 2 vs. 4, 4 vs. 4 or 6 vs. 4. The only important thing is that each side has a minimum of 2 pilots! Fights must also be accepted if one party is “out-numbered.” · IOW missions may only be played in full realistic mode!
Things that lead to immediate deletion · Public insulting of other players · Public accusations of other players without giving proof · Manipulation of mission files and/or logfiles
Availability and Supplies Producing new airplane types In order to develop and purchase a new airplane type it has to be ordered by the High Command of the individual airforce. This will cost (development until building of production facilities) 50,000 points (in 1000 Rubel/Reichsmark). When the time for a new production is reached and there are enough "production resources" available the players may suggest the deployment of a new airplane type to their High Command. To do this there will be a poll every week. This poll will end every Thursday and the result will show the new airplane type which will be implemented into next week's missions immediately by the percentage of their purchase! However, there are some production guidelines and "research trees" that have to be obeyed! VVS production guideline example For Mig3: Mig3UD -> Mig3AM38 -> Mig3UB-> Mig3ShAVK-> Mig3U For YAK: Yak1 -> Yak7b -> Yak1b-> Yak9->YakD->YakT->YakK->YakU -> Yak3 For La: LaGG3 IT -> LaGG3-66-> La5-> La5F-> La5FN-> La7 For P39: P39N1->P39Q1->P39Q10 For IL2: IL2 Serie3-> IL2FM->IL2M1->IL2M2->IL2T->IL2Type3->IL2-3M For Pe-2: Serie84->Serie110->Serie359 For Pe-3: Axis production guideline example For Bf109: F4-> G2-> G6-1-> G6-2-> G6AS-> G10-> G14-> K4 For FW 190: A4-> A5-> A8-> D9 For Me 262: A1-> A2 For JU87: D-3 -> G-1 For Hs129: B2-> B3 So what new types are developed is pretty much up to the IOW participants. Like in a real war not everything can be produced at the same time in IOW2. The airforces of both sides will state their demands for new material to their individual High Commands. How does the distribution of planes and resupply work? Basically there are 2 types of resupply: 1. Fuel and Ammunition 2. Planes Fuel and Ammunition Every pilot will receive a certain amount of resupply from the score per week. The High Command will distribute this resupply based on the activity of the individual player's squadron. So inactive players will cost their squadron valuable resupply. To this end squadron COs are encouraged to remove inactive pilots from the game! If, for instance, a squadron has 10 members and each member gets 5 resupply points per week this will cost 50 resupply points for the unit. You loose 1 resupply point if you do not land your plane at an airfield of your own side. If you lost all your resupply points you are not allowed to participate in missions until you get more resupply! Planes The amount of planes at the disposal of both sides is very high at the beginning. This will change soon since every plane destroyed in the air or on the ground will be deducted from the arsenal of the appropriate side! A simple example: VVS side has150 Mig3/1940 high-altitude fighters at its disposal. During a german assault on an soviet airfield 20 static Mig3/1940 get destroyed. Now there are only 130 planes of this type left in the database. If this gets reduced to ZERO VVS side no longer has Mig3 at its disposal at high-level intercept missions! VVS would then have to use I16 for example to intercept bombers flying in a very high altitude! You will see that everything has pretty realistic effects! The High Command will purchase new planes at the end of each week. If there are not enough points to develop the desired new airplane type AND distribute airplane resupply this will mean that there will be no airplane resupply or no new airplane type! So the High Command has to uphold a balanced ratio between the development of new airplane types and resupply for the front!
The missions The missions will be downloaded automatically by IOW-Host.exe. The mission setting changes from week to week and is no subject to discuss. The IOW-Host.exe file will be distributed to the host pilots by IOW-HQ. The instructions of the Readme file have to be followed! Pilots who like to host have to register themselves at their side admin. The appropriate admin will then enable them to host. Each mission has primary and secondary objectives. Achieving the primary objective will result in a score bonus of +100 points for every player of the winning team. This does not mean the secondary objective is unimportant! Secondary objectives are alternative targets that in some cases might give you more points for your side than achieving the pirmary objective. In IOW2 it is absolutely necessary to secure secondary targets since airfields are seconary argets very often. Every plane destroyed on the ground at an airfield will be deducted from the enemy's total arsenal in the database. This can lead to a dramatically reduced airplane arsenal!
Combat If all mission participants are there the host launches the game and each side tries to achieve its mission objective. A mission always begins with the take-off and ends with the landing! The "IL2 Sturmovik" program will announce when the mission is over (Blue Side Won or Red Side Won). Players who have been shot down and players who bailed out or were forced to emergency land may leave the game. Autoreport will then retrieve their stats and kills. Players who successfully landed on an airfield of their own side have to stay in the game until the host ends the mission in order to get the status "Landed at AF" by the autoreport and prevent the loss of their airplane. If a player gets shot down he has to stay inside the game until his plane crashes onto the ground, explodes in the air or the pilot gets killed. If a player bails out he has to stay in the game until his "pilot" reaches the ground and jumps into cover. As stated above each side has to be represented by at least two players. Additional AI planes are considered as enemies but do not change the 2-players-minimum-rule. The participating players do not have to be from the same squadron but they have to be from the same side. Responsible for the stats and kills that are entered into the war database after the mission ended are the data retrieved from the IL2 logfile by our Autoreport program! There can be no objections against the result of the autoreport. It is final!
Leaving the mission/Refusing to play If players leave the game intentionally (even before they claimed an airplane or the mission began) their entire resupply is being deleted for cowardry. They are locked until new resupply arrives. If you do not want to fight then you should not enter a free game slot (in HyperLobby). As a proof the host player sends the logfile to the administrator of the enemy side (iow.log).
Player's Ranks Each unit commander sets the rank for his pilots at the beginning. These ranks should be given according to the player's skills and combat experience. All players have to pay attention to rank. The player with the highest rank is in command of a mission! So if a rookie gets promoted to Leutnant he eventually would have to coordinate an entire assault! If it becomes obvious that a squadron gives too many high ranks to its members who do not deserve it this squadron's resupply may be cut! The unit commanders are in charge of the ranks! A pilot will raise in rank automatically if he achieves the special requirements for the next rank. In order to become Oberleutnant, for example, a Leutnant has to participate in 35 missions without getting killed and has to score 3,500 points! The highest rank for unit commanders available is "Oberst" for the Luftwaffe and "General" for VVS. Smaller units are recommended not to use higher ranks! We recommend: 1. 4+ pilots: 1xLeutnant,1x Fähnrich, 2x Flieger or other non-officer ranks 2. 8+ pilots: 1xOberleutnant, 1xLeutnant, 2x Unteroffizier + 4x non-officer ranks 3. 12+ pilots: 1x Major, 1x Oberleutnant, 2xFähnrich, 2x Unteroffizier + 6 non-officer ranks 4. 16+ pilots: 1x Oberst, 1xOberleutnant, 2x Leutnant 4x Unteroffizier 8x non-officer ranks This way we keep up the fun and encourage players to fight for the next rank. Experienced squadrons will find a good solution for sure. As you can see new ranks are not being given without regard to the player's effort. Getting a higher rank is not easy!
Here the rank and requirement overview:
Loss of airplanes A pilot is considered to be shot down or lost, if he is not able to land on an airfield of his own side; he is not considered to be shot down or lost when landing on an airfield of his own side. Any pilot who does NOT land on an airfield of his side looses his aircraft. Any pilot who does not take-off for any reasons looses his aircraft as well. This can be due to a take-off accident or other eventualities. Every player has to stay in the game until his destroyed airplane crashes into the ground or until the ejected pilot is on the ground.
Score system The score system is as follows: · Points given by the game (addition of each side's score) · Mission won (indicated by IL2): +100 · Bomber kill: + 20 · Fighter kill: + 10 · Ground target destroyed:+ 5 · Ship destroyed: + 200 · Plane landed on airfield of the own side: no plane loss · Lost plane due to emergency landing: Lost 1 plane and - 20 points · Lost plane due to ejecting, alive: Lost 1 plane and - 30 points · Lost plane due to take-off accident, alive: Lost 1 plane and - 20 points · Lost plane due to death: Lost 1 plane and - 400 points and 1 death · Lost plane due to leaving the game, alive: Lost 1 plane and - 400 points · Player unable to take-off due to technical difficulties: Lost 1 plane and - 20 points · Reargunners do not loose planes but apart from that are concerned by the score system
·
Score system for the Side vs. Side statistics (Axis vs. VVS) The own casualties and losses (including losses inflicted by AI or ground troops) get substracted from the total mission score
Penalty catalogue Unfortunately it does not seem to work else. We made up a penalty catalogue. The impossible behaviour of various pilots that have no respect for the work of other people made this necessary.
·
Violating of the Rules Of War:
·
Insulting the administration:
·
Slander and blackmail
·
Inappropriate behaviour and
insulting of other players:
·
Ignoring of the Chain Of
Command:
·
Flying without permission to
fly, not enlisted pilots of a unit who illegally fly a mission and
threaten the result in doing so:
·
Flying without any airplanes
in hangar (AC=0): We say again: We never intended to introduce such an catalogue in the IOW but the behaviour of a minority of players in the IOW have forced us to do so. Subject to change!
