Disneyworld Tips
General Tips
- From years of personal experience, Wednesday is THE day to go. In the busiest seasons, it's pretty much crowded nomatter when you go, but the middle of the week still tends to be best. AVOID saturdays if you can.
- Get there early!! First people in get the first pick on rides!
- When you first enter the park, don't get caught up shopping on Mainstreet. You have all day and the same overproduced merchandise is in every store throughout the park.
- Bring snacks in a backpack with you. Disney doesn't stop food from entering, and it saves alot of money. Capri-suns are an excellent portable drink, just freeze them the night before.
- Unless you are bent on seeing the parade, use the hour before and time during it to do some of the better rides.
- To avoid long restaraunt lines and full seating areas, go after the lunch rush, later in the afternoon. If you bring food,(see earlier tip)you'll survive until then.
- If you do want to see a parade, find a nice spot at least 45 minutes to an hour before. Maybe longer for the evening parade. And dont move. Also, stand your ground! The more late comers arrive, the more people will try to muscle in on your prized area. Use strollers, bags, or anything else you have to show that this is your space. And if people start pushing you....push back....YOU were there first, and YOU have the right to enjoy the show in comfort.
- Is it too hot? Want to get off your feet without missing fifty dollar a day Disney time? I've got your answers. Number one: Go to Tommorrowland and ride the TTA Skyway, formerly known as the People-Mover. It has no line and gives you a great view of Tommorrowland as well as inside Space Mountain. Plus the movement gives you a nice breeze. Number 2: Visit the Tikki Room in Adventureland. The show is usually not very full, and is air-conditioned. And if you haven't visited in a few years, you'll be in for a suprise. A few new faces, or should I say beaks, have been added.
- If you plan on riding Peter Pan, never ever count on the line getting shorter, If the park is completely empty, Pan will still have a forty-five minute line. Definately (as much as I hate to say it) get a fastpass for this one.
Tips with KIDS
- Remember these words---baby-swap. Especially if you have more people. Heres how it works. One parent and their family gets on the ride while other parent waits. Then, without waiting in line again, the other parent gets to ride. The trick is, bring the rest of the family both times. Way Cool!!!!!
- Do Dumbo EARLY, as soon as the park opens if possible. It's a very, very popular attraction for kids and isn't fun to wait in line for in the sun and sweltering heat.
- Obviously the little ones can't ride the big coasters. Thus Disney built "Goofy's Barnstormer". A rollercoaster built kid-size. It's very short(only 10 or 20 seconds), but great for the children to ride.
- Wear them out! The Magic Kingdom has playgrounds in toontown, Beside Splash Mountain--under the Train Bridge, on Tom Sawyers island, and in the middle of Fantasyland where you meet Ariel.
- Bring swimsuits for the kids, even in the theme parks. There are water areas inside the parks for kids to play.
Attractions not to do and things to watch out for with kids:
In the Magic Kingom
- Snow Whites Scary Adventures: The name says it all. Scenes with the wicked queen and some scary trees could frighten the youngins. However, it is short, so they'll be in and out in a flash. The Dwarves, as well as some cute little animals might help ease their tensions though.
- The Haunted Mansion: Most of the Mansion is not made to be that scary, more funny. But the stretching room and some things like hands coming out of the doors and the attic scene may not go over well with the wee-lings. The part kids WILL love is the hitch-hiking ghosts. If you dont know what that is, well, you'll see.
more coming very very soon......
