Dear Aunt Bea,
I received your stamps and letter. I have not read the article Kay submitted or seen one. Send me one. I wrote her a long letter explaining the problems we face here. I guess you well know they sprayed your son again over two pieces of bread. After it was all done and they finally gave him some bread, the staff (Sgt. Agerton) threw it in his toilet!
I feel for these men in here as I am. But what can we do? All I can say is I'll tell my story to a Grand Jury, private investigators, Tallahassee, or whoever it takes in person! I'm not afraid of what they will do to me.
They gave me close management as well as your son and Harold Wheeler. We will be moved probably this week. What is your state rep's name? I'll write and tell my side to him or her.
I'm ok. I'll be better after I'm away from here. I do appreciate your letters and the help you give us. God bless you! They still tamper with the mail and do all kinds of mean things to us in here. We will win eventually, I hope, or at least expose these assholes for what they are doing to us. I don't know what is in my future, but I'll stay in touch and you do the same.
I'll go for now. God bless you and keep you safe.

Mom,
Hey, how's it going? I know it's been a little while between letters. I screwed up with the stamps and only have one left, so I was/am waiting until I get/got transferred to write. Hopefully I'll get some stamps tonight and I can send this. I think I'll send it anyway 'cause I ordered 20 stamps from canteen. Anyway, I'm sitting here freshly showered waiting on them to pass out mail. I did not receive any last night.
Someone told me they wrote you and told you what happened on Friday 19th of May. I was maced/peppersprayed yet again. This time because I asked Officer Crumity and Sgt. Wilson to call the kitchen and get us (inmates) the other two slices of bread that were supposed to be on our lunch tray. What was I supposed to do? Write a grievance? How would that of gotten us another two slices of bread on that lunch tray? What, would they bring everybody two extra slices of bread on another day? Well, I got maced for that by Captain Hemphill, Sgt. McCoy, Sgt. Agerton, and Sgt. Wilson. (Wonder why I warrant such special attention? Three Sergeants and a Captain.) Don't worry though, I'm fine as can be. It only burns for a little while.
Mr. Vaughn talked to me today. He said you're driving him crazy. He wanted to know who is calling you and giving you all this information. I did not tell him. One thing though. This is for your credibility. Be careful of the information you believe from some if not all of the inmates you speak to. Alot of times these inmates are giving you second hand information or they are slewing events in their favor. Make sure you receive some kind of documentation or verification whenever and wherever possible. Just be careful as to what information you believe and pass on. If you pass on some bogus information, then you look bad. Ask me about whatever situation(s) and I can try to verify as well as possible.
Oh yeah! Keep giving 'em hell! Officer Crumity came by my cell today and said, "Thanks for the publicity." I take that to mean he was/is referring to the website.
One other thing. They refuse to allow me to call witnesses for when I was maced (I was given another DR for disorderly conduct). Neither was I allowed to make a statement on my behalf. Sgt. Agerton also threw my bread (the two pieces the kitchen sent over because I made them call the kitchen) into the toilet. I put down on my witness statement form (Reason for being maced) names of people I wanted to call as witnesses, the whole disciplinary confinement unit who were confined on May 19th, 2001. These officers are real scumbags. They think they're immune to prosecution, but they'll see.
Still no mail from you tonight. They must be holding it because I'm leaving this week. I don't know. I know you didn't/don't miss a day. I'm sending this out tonight anyway. This is no. 8, so you know.
I wanted to let you know too, to not send anybody money or any like that. Sometimes these inmates will try to take advantage of you. Just be careful, you are doing a great job and so is Kay. You must be if they're (officers) are all talking about it.
Here is another inmate who had an attorney come to see him yesterday. He is pressing charges on Sgt. Wilson for threats on his life. Pass it on to Kay et al.
Well, Mom, I guess I'll go for now. I love you and miss you. I'm okay and should (?) be out of this institution soon.
Take care of yourself and pops and I'll write as soon as I can. You're the best.
Love, your son, Donny

hi I was just wondering if you have heard anything about this anymore [Donald Hickey charged Officer Bryant with being a supplier/distributer of marijuana in the Wakulla prison]-

it seems I always run into a brick wall and never get any truthful answers. I just believe in my heart, that if our son had not turned in this officer, he would not have gotten the DR's he received from the officers, and he could be out on the compound, taking showers, watching tv, instead of being in a cage like an animal, with 3 showers a week, no tv, no radio, no living, hardly existing. If you look into his prior time in the system, he never had these problems, nor is he having them at the new institution. Bernice Hickey

In case you haven't been told, this institution recommended me for Close Management II, which is 13 months to 24 months of confinement - isolation. The reason given is excessive DRs and threats of violence. But you and I both know the real reason. I told my mother in February what was gonna happen concerning retaliation (specifically C.M.). I'm not a prophet, I just know the immature, napoleonic complex of the petty tyrants who are employed in supervisory positions in D.O.C.

I cannot express my feelings for the support, prayers, hard work, e-mails for Donny and all the letters written to Donny. All our hard work worked.
Between the pressure on the DOC, Donny filing an Emergency Grievance, my attorney sending e-mail, making calls, my State Rep, and other state reps, Donny is home.
When I read the e-mail from Sec. Crosby, I first called Don and said "Donny is coming home! I don't know exactly today or tomorrow, but he is coming home. I am going to call Lindy and Janice", and just as I started to dial
the number to Janice, Janice was calling me.I was so excited, I told her I was just going to call her and Lindy. She said "Call the prison, find out when he will be released, and call me back!"
So I called the prison, and when they put me on hold. I called Lindy on my cell, and was talking to her in between -- The facility told me he had to be processed, and how did I find out he was going home? I told them I had
an e-mail from Sec. Crosby and I read it to them. The man said, "I have just
sent someone to get him a bus ticket." I said, "May I talk to my son? We will come and get him."I said, "Hi son, how you doing?" Donnie said, "I am getting the f@#$
out of here!" I told him we were coming to get him. I called Janice back,
and she said, "Grace and I will go get him and take him to get something to
eat while we wait for you."Well Janice and Grace took Donny to Boot Hill Saloon, and both had "sex
on the beach" with my son before I got there. (That is a drink, I hope you
know) I called Brenda, Archie Davis' Mom, she was there too. Then my husband and I got there. It was wonderful. We took a few pictures of Donny and the Lolits at a booth with a beer celebrating. It was a Kodak Moment. It is the beginning of Bikersfest, needless to say, thousands of bikers, and since the DOC shaved Donny's head, he fit right in. It was one of the most wonderful days of
my life.Thank you for your e-mails and your phone calls, your love, support and prayers.
Watch out DOC! Here comes Aunt Pistol Packin' Bea now. !!!
I love you all ------ BeaMTWT
GOLD STAR NOMINATION
Hello all-- I have a few minutes. Donny took the dog to the beach with him. It is so great to have him home. He needs a week or so to unwind and settle in. I have a freezer full of food, and he is not eating -- He says he is just too excited to eat, just nibbles. He still has lots of things to go through.
Once again I want to thank you for all your support. I understand there were State Reps contacted by some of the LOLITS. But did they actually do anything? I can't answer that.I did obtain an attorney. I realized that until Donny completed the grievances the attorney actually couldn't do anything. I felt I needed him in case I didn't hear from Donny, he was close by and he could check in on him. As I have always lived in fear as to what we lived through at another institution. And I couldn't handle that again.
I know it was Secretary Crosby, as he actually took the time to read the copies of the DRs and witness statements, calling me twice, listening to our plea, and e-mailing me. Secretary Crosby saw errors and followed through. Secretary Crosby issued the emergency release, not an attorney or a State Rep.
Secretary Crosby transferred Kevin Smith from Charlotte. He transferred Jeff Ferris for Joanna when he was having problems. He is listening.
Joan Stewart and Clarence Jones tried to get married three times and were denied. It was when I told Joan to e-mail Secretary Crosby, that he would listen and she would get an answer. Joan and CJ were married in August.Secretary Crosby has a big job. Over 20,000 associates, and about 75,000 plus inmates. He can't do it all at once. Our goal is to make things better. We must continue to work together. Take one step at a time.
I will be back online shortly, and continue to try to make things better for all. Right now I am just unwinding. Just wanted to let you all know, I know it was Secretary Crosby listening and following through. I give this one to Secretary Crosby.
A GOLD STAR SHOULD BE AWARDED TO CROSBY!!
Thanks again - for your support -- Love you all Bea
