DEATH BY MEDICAL NEGLECT
Also Received this letter today -- Dated 04 10 2002
"Today we had another death at Wakulla CI. Now it is Jerome Harris' turn to die. He was an epileptic (chronic). He was under constant medication. The medical department decided to change his medicine around as they normally do with everyone, experimenting to see which method they can find to save the DOC on medical spending. Harris's complaint the day before his death - that he was having chest pains and felt bad - though he declared a medical emergency - was ignored. He was given the normal treatment, "Take this Tylenol and go back to your dormitory, there is nothing wrong with you." But that wasn't the case. Jerome Harris was found dead on his bunk, supposedly died of a heart attack. Did he die of natural causes? Was he left to die ? Or was he killed by the effect of the new medication ? It will probably never be known. His face was badly swollen the day before, like a reaction to the medication he was taking."
This is three deaths at Wakulla this year that we know of at this time.
DC # 352791 still shows under released inmates as of April 15, 2002.
Stephen Davis is not listed there any more that I can find, Archie Davis is no longer there.
