EX-OFFENDERS' RESOURCE
ONE-STOP CENTERS
http://www.workforcecenter.org/one-stop.htm
Kay,
I apologize in advance if this is not an appropriate question to as you, but I am desperately seeking some guidance.
The father of my granddaughter was released from Mayo Correctional Facility in Florida yesterday after serving two year sentence related to the sale of cocaine. Prior to his release, I had been told that he would have information about a One Stop Service Center that Governor Bush had helped to establish to provide assistance for work, housing, etc. The only helpful information that he was released with was contact information for Project Help, the Drivers License Bureau, and Employment Services office. When he called Project Help, they said their primary purpose was to help victims not former inmates. His packet primarily consisted of materials warning about future mandatory sentences.
He seems to be motivated to make changes at the moment, but the resources are very limited. His immediate family has all been incarcerated for various reasons in the past. Unfortunately, if he does not get out of this area soon, I foresee he will be back with the same crowd and in trouble again. Are there any resources out there? What would be ideal would be some kind of residential facility where he could live, work, get training, and counseling. I am able to transport him anywhere and give him some limited assistance, but this needs to happen very soon.
If you know of anyone to contact that may have suggestion, I would appreciate that information.
Sincerely,
HW
Naples, FloridaKay, The person I am looking for just got his on DR overturned on appeal. All by himself. It looks like his parole hearing is still on course. He is looking for a place in Central Florida for a program. Bernie De Castro's is open but it seems there may be a problem in getting into that program so he is looking towards Tampa. If anyone knows of a good program for a 55 year old man please let me know.
Thanks.

http://www.workforcecenter.org/one-stop.htm"Thank you all so much for your advice and resources. Because of the suggestions I received, I found an email address for someone with the One-stop center in Daytona, I wasn't even sure I emailed the right place, but not even 30 minutes later a wonderful lady Tracy Logan who's in charge of the ex prisoner services called me at my work and wanted to set up an appointment with my uncle next Wednesday. I told her he had been trained as a plumber at Polk CI ,and she said she was 99% sure she could get him a job. She said she's a busy woman , but she really goes out of her way for "HER" ex-prisoners because she's been involved personally since her husband did 6 years in prison and she will do anything to help them succeed. I told her that people like her are a rare find in the system and I feel lucky to have come across such a caring person. She's gonna help him with paperwork for everything, including the employer incentives and the bond thing you told me about. So thanks again, my uncle feels so much better since I talked to him last night, he was starting to feel hopeless but now he's happy again."
What organization is Tracy Logan with? I know Ex prisoner Services. But how is her or her organization contacted. Someone I know is on his final hearing for parole after 24 years and Being able to put him in contact with this organization would be a big help.
Thank you
