BADRAP was born out of turmoil. Several different
groups of people had joined their forces and formed the Ill-fated
TAPCA group. TAPCA (Tampa Area Performance
Car Association) was a good idea, and it soon exploded
into a rather large group of divergent peoples, with different
tastes in cars. As in most cases where things grow too quickly,
and there is no system of order in place, TAPCA fell
apart.
Not any single person can be pointed at and proclaimed as
the REASON TAPCA failed. What is closer to the truth
is that all of us together shared a part in the failure. The
people that had formed TAPCA split up, and some were
even happy with going their own way. Others began a new "Club"
and went with an "all included" theme. We wish them
the best of luck, their club can be found here (www.tamparacing.com).
If you feel BADRAP isn't your cup of tea, then by all
means consider Tampa Racing. Of course we would love
to have you, but we would rather you be happy.
That's where we come in. Chris Poulin was nice enough to
allow us to "meet" on his UBB at the classicfirebird.com
website. More and more of the long timers began to come into
this forum, and it was decided that since we couldn't find
any club that matched our taste, we should form our own. With
no intent on making it the largest club, or the flashiest
club. We simply wanted to get together, race, talk cars, and
HAVE FUN. No politics, no BS.. just REAL CARS, having REAL
FUN, doing REAL RACING.
A simple organization was decided upon, of Three elected
"Officers" with equal power, to run things,
and to keep the club focused on our goals. Against some objections,
a "determination" was made, on what sort
of Performance vehicles we would allow. Some folks wished
all cars to be welcome, others only American vehicles. After
voting, it was decided that only American, rear wheel drive
vehicles would be considered for membership.
This does not mean we are against imports, or domestic front
wheel drivers, we just felt that the rear wheel, American
muscle car, fit our taste and theme better than a Honda Civic
with a 2,000 amp Sub did. BADRAP is what we make of
it. We can become the best car racing club in west Florida,
or we can keep it small and family like, the future will decide
that. But if you wish to join up with a bunch of guys and
gals who really LOVE to talk about their cars, and
then race them, you have come to the right place!Welcome to
BADRAP! where Performance TALKS, and BS WALKS-Robert
