Nina Ananiashvilli
Ms. Ananiashvilli was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, and at age 10 was Georgia's ice skating champion. She began her dance education at The Choreographic Institute, and then entered Moscow Ballet School, she graduated in 1981. During these years, she recieved several awards...
- Gold Medal at Varna, age 17,
- First Place and Gold Medal at the fourth International Ballet Competition at Moscow (1984),
- First Place and Gold Medal at the fifth International Ballet Competition at Moscow (1985),
- Grand Prix and Gold Medal at International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi (1986).
Once she graduated, she joined the Bolshoi Ballet, where she accumulated a vast repertoire. She made several appearances all over the world, including The US, Finland, Denmark, and Portugal. She was the first Russian ballerina to appear in Balanchine's
Appolo, Symphony in C, and
Raymond. Ms. Ananiashvilli made her premiere With American Ballet Theatre in 1993, and since has danced numerous roles with them as a Principal Dancer.
