Adding the Clock Script
By Jeanie Huppert
Are we having fun yet? We have taken a plain ol
"New message" in Outlook Express and changed it completely by:
-
Adding a background image
-
Adding a Wav, midi or other music
-
Adding a colored border and Scrollbar
-
Adding a Ticker message
Now let's add the Script for the Colored clock :-) We could
do this in Outlook Express like we did the other Scripts but why? We have
saved what we have done so far and we have the stationery HTML file saved
to the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery
. All we have to do is add to it and save it:-)
-
Right click "Start" go to Explore
-
Go to the folder, "All Scripts". Double click on the text
file, "clock_color" .
This will open the file in "Notepad". Go to Edit--->Select ALL
Edit---->Copy to copy the script for the clock
-
Scroll to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery
-
Double click on the stationery file," bkgwithticker.html"
-
The script will open in Windows Explorer. Go to View--->Source
-
Scoll to the end of the script, place the cursor after the
closing body tag and before the closing tag HTML tag.
-
File-----Save
That's all there is to it :-) To view the clock while
in Windows Explorer, Select "Refresh" and Wa La"
To use the Stationery HTML file in Outlook Express, Open
Outlook Express, Click on the down arrow to the right of, "Create Mail"--->
Select, " Select Stationery"---> Scroll to the folder, "
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery " ---> Double
click on the Stationery file and "Wa La"
Can we add more goodies to this Script? Sure ya can :-)
