Gran Turismo 2 Editor
My GT2 DexDrive save editor is now in working condition. It is a Windows application (sorry, penguin fans) which allows you to open a single-game-save file created with PXSGameEdit, make changes to individual cars, edit your elapsed days and bank account balance, modify the number of cars in your garage, cut and paste cars between garage slots (or save files), and save the file to disk so that PSXGameEdit can write it back to a memory card for testing.
I've used it to put a Mustang SVT motor and drivetrain into a Ford Ka and beat up on the usual GT All Stars at high speed ring, so it does work.
I did find the Ka sometimes reverted to its normal HP and torque if going straight from settings menu to race track. Exiting from settings to the race selection screen and going back into the race restored its SVT power.
Anybody who wants to try this can download it from here, unzip to a temp directory and run setup. For anybody interested, the zip also contains source code - look in (your temp directory)\src\*.*. It is a 2 meg download (because it is a VB5 app and the installation includes some standard, big VB5 runtime DLLs - which probably are already loaded on your computer). Operation is pretty straightforward, but this is an early release, so it's certainly not well documented (or at all!) or exceptionally user-friendly. Your only problem using it should be deciding what values to put where. Enjoy, and your comments are welcome here (GTF forum)! By the way - the program works with NTSC (North American) GT2 saves only! (for now!!!).
It should be trivial to make a PAL version or option, if a PAL user can verify the locations of the day counter, cash counter, car counter, and garage size and checksum location for me. For NTSC, these are:
Day Counter: 378
Cash counter: 7f08
Car Count: 3ef4
Garage Size: 164 bytes/car
Garage Checksum Location: 7f1c
P.S. Remember to do Full Load and Full Save when using PSXGameEdit - I find the quick load and save do not work with GT2 game saves!
