"On the Jewish inmates: Before I left there [Union CI]they had implemented meals for the Jews under some court agreement. What they did though, was to restrict men on that diet from purchasing over half of the stuff in the canteen! They were not allowed to purchase anything not on their "list" from the canteen. If they did, they would be taken off the Jewish Diet!!

Just another tactic to reduce costs. FDOC knows the men are going to buy those items not available to them and then get bumped off the diet. Each meal costs FDOC more than $10.00 so they save about $30.00 per diem on each inmate they bump off the list. Purely punitive measure for winning the case and demonstration that even if you win...you lose.

Find out from all your contacts if this kind of thing with the chow hall is going on at other camps. Maybe it's not an isolated incident."
