WHEN TRUE LOVE DIED

Drive-in movies, waitresses on skates,
High school dances at night,
Picnics on a sandy beach,
The first time you were held real tight...

Longingly gazing into his eyes,
Walking hand in hand,
Exchanging ID braclets,
With that special young man...

It was love at first sight,
No one else could you see,
Your destiny was carved in stone,
With him you will always be...

The first real kiss, you'll never forget,
The way it made you feel,
You tingled from your head to your toes,
Love notes, with a kiss you sealed...

Meeting his parents for the first time,
The question had been popped,
A token of his love he put on your hand,
You think nothing as this could be topped...

Your future has just begun,
So much happiness to endure,
Your lives would be as one,
Together forever your sure...

You have walked down the aisle,
Tears of happiness flow down you face,
He looks so very handsome,
As he stands there so tall and straight...

Many eyes are upon you,
All are wishing you well,
Over the years together,
You will experience many stories to tell...

To your children and grand children,
About the good old days,
When you and Grandpa walked hand in hand,
And fell in love that day...

Your life has taken a turn,
Things are not as you thought it would be,
Love like this is never ending,
It lasts for all eternity...

The doctors have come to tell you,
He is very ill and must go now,
You hold his wrinkled hand in yours,
And kiss him upon his brow...

You love him so much and always will,
As tears of sadness stream down your face,
Your heart is beating so very fast,
As his hand becomes very still...

You don't know what to do,
As you gaze up to the sky,
How do you start all over alone,
On the day that TRUE LOVE DIED.
