Jan. 30- Ugh. I keep hearing on Slashdot about the selling of students' browsing habits by the censorware companies, especially since this censorware is mandated by law now. Sure, it's capitalism, but it makes me sick all the same. The selling of my online habits as well as other information about me third parties don't need is the pure reason I pay for internet access. I should control my information, if they want it, they can pay ME.
Jan. 22- What a neat story! In other news, I am researching my family tree again since enrolling in a class entitled "the South to 1865", mostly because we're very southern. Hooray for Dixie!
Jan. 16- This story makes me want to do naughty things. I don't even know how I got to it, but considering my bizarre childhood fascination with the water table and generally all things underground, I would now like to go explore the University steam tunnels. Another story on salon.com about a scandal involving SCI, my former employer was interesting too. (links from infiltration story).
Dec. 21- UPDATE: Once I had a small rant on the release of Princess Mononoke on DVD, back on the more... page. It concerned how the folks with the rights to the movie in America were releasing a dvd worldwide, of this anime movie, orginally in Japanese, without a shred of Japanese on it. The Update comes from the same news source as the original story-slashdot. Those having a bone to pick about this retardation were apparently loud enough to get the release stalled- and now it is great- with a Japanese track as well as all sorts of nifty other subtitle stuff.
Dec. 18- I noticed today that if you search in the average search engine for me (i.e. "laura chiles" ) there's in an imposter taking up lots of space on the internet who used to work for penn state's newspaper as a photojournalist covering various sports events.
Dec. 14- I saw a movie tonight and it is the movie to see! Check out American Pimp by the Hughes Bros. from your local video store.
Dec. 14- Hey the first lady is a Laura!
Dec. 08- Hey hey! Go make comments and sign my guestbook- you know you want to be immortalized on my flimsy webpage!
Nov. 21- YO! check out this website: soho. it has some really sweet pictures of the sun to use as background images. And look here, Cassini is bringing us some awesome pictures of Jupiter.
Oct. 02- Wiley and I saw the Dixie Chicks, who were awesome! (Yee-Haw)
Sept. 19- I got my completely bran-spankin new computer
(except for the nine year old monitor) and it works like a champ! Oh, and I also apologize for advance for any spelling errirs that occur in new stuff I've written-this monitor is really blurry, and sometimes I don't catch them; just let me know where they are so they can be fixed.
Aug. 17- Hey hey hey, if you live in Jacksonville, I now know waa-ay too much about the history of the town- but more importantly, if you live there and have a coffee table book about Jax's old buildings- my Granddaddy is on page 32.
