Saturday, August 7, 1999 Had a different kind of spell today. Happened 3 times. All of a sudden it was like I wasn't getting enough oxygen. Respirations increased. Had to be in a sitting position, could not tolerate lying down. One spell happened just after going to bed. None lasted longer than a few minutes. Sunday, August 8, 1999 Today was a 3. For the most part, I was numb from my ear to the bottom of my rib cage, including both arms to about the elbows. All of the areas had that tingling/crawly feeling. The top of my left ear and my chest right above my left boob was the most dominate. My ribs had that feeling of being "in the way". I was finally able to determine that this was how I conceived the area when it was numb. I discovered a new area of numbness today too... my second and third left toe. However, I was only aware of it when I walked. Though I never fell, my legs buckled under me two or three times. My left shoulder and left wrist both stopped working for a short period of time. My vision blurred a few times but it was transient. I had two spells of dizziness. They occurred while I was sitting and there was nothing I could pinpoint to attribute them to. Theses spells make me very woozy giving me a feeling of "not being all there". My head would be very hard to hold up when they occurred and it seemed as if my vision produced "trails" though I can't be sure I actually saw them. They lasted only about one to two minutes. Had a bit of teariness at bedtime but it didn't last long. Monday, August 9, 1999 Today was a 7. The numbness continued much the same way. It seems too follow a diagonal path from my left shoulder to just under my right boob. There was some momentary numbness to my right second and third toe but it passed rather quickly. Just had a lot of the tingly/crawly sensations. I, also had a sensation like it was misting on my arms. Of course, it wasn't since I was sitting in my living room. My right arm was a little weak, having a little shakiness when pouring coffee from a full pot. There was some brief periods of time when I couldn't move my left shoulder. They come on out of the blue. At other times it was like real sluggish feeling. Whenever it would feel like that, I could not fully extend either my left shoulder or my left elbow. Pain... that was a new thing. I had this nerve type pain in my left wrist and shoulder. It lasted maybe 20 - 30 minutes. Had two more of those whoozy episodes. It's like all of a sudden being given some anesthesia. Surroundings are whoosy... motor function is next to impossible... seems my speech is slurred too... getting thoughts out is difficult... I have to really fight to get my eyes open as well. Tuesday, August 10, 1999 Today was a 6. Have had 3 episodes of the whoozies. They last 2 - 3 minutes making it impossible to do anything... Again it was as if I had just received some anesthesia. I'm sad and scared at the thought of what might have happened had I been standing or driving. The numbness/tingling is really predominate in my face and arms. They feel like they are buzzing. It's really weird. Wednesday, August 11, 1999 Today was an 8. The numbness/tingling/crawling was at a minium, mainly noticed on my ear, toes, and chest. Only had 1 episode of the whoozies and it only lastly briefly. Legs buckled a couple times but no fall. No tremors. However, fatigue was very heavy. Stuttering more than normal with the wrong words coming out at times. Thursday, August 12, 1999 Today was an 8. Numbness/tingling/buzzing feeling prominent from left ear to left shoulder. Hearing decreased in left ear, feels full. Vision blurry. Friday, August 13, 1999 Today was a 5. Numbness/tingling/buzzing prominent on 2nd and 3rd left toes, right anterior forearm. Had one small episode of whooziness that lasted 3 - 5 minutes. It wasn't real strong but I noticed that most of my body had the numbness/tingling/buzzing feeling. The neurological part was slight. Mobility is very weak today. Legs buckling alot but no falls incurred. Later in the evening, around 11pm, it was harder and harder to hold my head up. Had difficulty to moving left shoulder, arm, and hand. Saturday, August 14, 1999 Today was a 3. NTB feeling dominate to my right posterior forearm then progressed to include the entire arm causing it to feel heavy and movement to feel sluggish. There was a feeling of contricture to a few area of my arm like there were bands tied too tight around them. It also included my shoulder. It made using my arm so difficult I preferred not to... typing with left hand only. My 2nd and 3rd toe remained numb. Lat at night, around 11pm, the bottom of my right foot started with the NTB feeling making it difficult to walk. Sunday, August 15, 1999 Today was a 6. The NTB feeling was prominent today. It varied between different locations. Nothing real remarkable happened other than that. Monday, August 16, 1999 Today was 5. I had the VEP and EEG. Though it is a very non-stressful test, it did wear me out and I slept a lot afterwards. My forehead had the NBT feeling today. Tuesday, August 17, 1999 Today was the Spinal Tap but I was not done. I went into a Vagal Response where my B/P and pulse dropped. I slept the rest of the day. Wednesday, August 18, 1999 Today was a 6. MS hug around lower ribs. Right posterior arm has the NBT feeling. 2 left toes too. Hearing is muffled. Everyone's voices sound strange, including mine. I have no physical symptoms with it though. Weakness a slight problem today. A 14oz glass of water felt heavier than normal. Had difficulty standing... not so much physically... just a feeling of a "need" to sit down. Balance slighty off when I stand... not like orthostatic hypotension dizziness... but more like standing on shaky ground. Numerous heart papitations. Headache much of the day. Thursday, August 19, 1999 Today was a 7. Extremely nauseated before breakfast. Jittery too. Smelling stuff no one else smells Having alot of problems in typing the wrong words. It seems I will be thinking one word but typing another completely different word that isn't even in the sentence Friday, August 20, 1999 Today was a 10 up until around 5pm. Had even went out to run errands for a couple hours. NBT feeling limited to 2nd and 3rd toe. Right arm froze for a while. Legs weak for a little while after getting home. Nerve-like pain noted down legs and right shoulder. Heart palpitations with SOB noted a lot for about an hour. Saturday, August 21, 1999 Today was a 7. Had the NBT on and off. Brain fog seems to be a little more prominent. Muscular tremors with weakness noted in right arm. Sunday, August 22, 1999 Today was a 2. I had the most incredible pain in my neck. It was a nerve-type pain that ran down my back. The NBT feeling was consistent. Seem to go into my (OS) left eye too. My forehead had the strongest sensation of it. It occured during dinner so much I had to go lie down. Dizzy when standing. Gait is weak. Legs don't seem to be able to hold me up. Did not fall. Monday, August 23, 1999 Today was a 7. Was able to get out and run some errands. NBT continues to fluctuate in location and intensity. Heart palpitations with SOB fairly regular and exhausting. Continue to be wobbly when standing. A new symptom has appeared. Lost my voice. Occured out of the blue. Lasted only about 5 minutes. It was not like a laryngitis. It was more like the inability to expel enough air past vocal cords to make it work. Tuesday, August 24, 1999 Today was a 3. Did not sleep well last night. Very tired today which seems to definitely exacerbate symptom. Feel like I'm in a haze. NBT is fairly extensive throughout entire body, including eyes. Wobbly when standing. Smelling things that no one does. Extremely weak with tremors. Wednesday, August 25. 1999 Had 3 of those spells where it feels like I was given a dose of anesthesia. Have been following the Atkin's Diet but have been indulging in high sugar foods like PopTarts and pudding. Noticed an almost immediate increase in heart palpitations. Have been in a haze most of the day. Eyes are gritty and burn, particularly OD (right eye). Thusrday, August 26, 1999 Today was an 8. Woke up feeling good. No fog... no NTB... Ate two PopTarts and shortly thereafter I had one of those spells. It was brief but now have the NBT and a small amount of brain fog. I have no idea if these two are connected. Friday, August 27, 1999 Today was a 4. I had several of those "spells" today. One happened at the dinner table. I don't like them or how they feel. Even though I am "aware" of my surroundings I do not have any contol over me. I nearly fell. All of a sudden out of nowhere, my legs were like rubber. I was able to hold onto the table until my legs returned which did not take long. I have had some visual disturbances. I see things that aren't there and I have had some double vision. Fortunately, I am aware that they aren't there. Have been smelling things too that no one else does. The smell itself is different all the time. It's not like I keep smelling the same thing. Sometimes they are food odors and sometimes not. I do tend to smell like a paper burning smell quite a lot. I got dizzy several times today. This always occurs while I'm seated. My vision doubles at that time. I do not know if that is what causes the dizziness or if the dizziness causes the double vision. A new sensation appeared today. The tops of my feet felt like they were burning. I wasn't hot but my dear husband said they were warm to touch. Gait and balance pretty good. H/A but it was alleviated with Tylenol. Having a lot of problems with my ribs... They just feel "noticable" like they are in the way. This causes just a slight discomfort. Eyes gritty and blurry... lasted for about an hour. Saturday, August 28, 1999 Today was a 4. NBT feeling has been mild and limited to my heads and shoulders. It gives the feeling that my hair has been gathered up around the hairline. Had several small "spell". Unable to attend seminar. Sunday, August 29, 1999 Today was a 6. The NBT feeling has persisited much of the day. Burning sensation to the tops of my feet. Stuttering alot and having a difficult time finding my words. Monday, August 30, 1999 Today was a 4. The NBT feeling has been non-stop. Burning sensation to feet for about an hour. Gathered feeling around hair line. Difficulty with gait with knees buckling. Prevented a fall only by easing myself to a sitting position. Unable to find my words. Stuttering Tuesday, August 31, 1999 Today was a 8. NBT feeling on and off to face, arms, chest, and legs.
