Mr. Daniel Reed died at his home on Charles Street this morning at 1:50, after an illness of two weeks, aged 68 years.

Mr. Reed was born in Ohio, December 29, 1826. He came to Illinois in 1856, and located at Todd’s Mill near Lowell, this county. After a residence of one year in LaSalle County he moved with his family consisting of a wife and child to Ancona, Livingston County, where he lived until the spring of 1870, when he moved on a farm two miles west of Ancona. In the spring of 1889, he came to Streator (IL) where he has resided since. In 1849 he was married to Eliza Merrill and by this union seven children were born to them, of whom three survives. They are Mary C.—D.M. (Daniel M)—and F.B. (Franklin Brown) all of whom are married, the daughter is the wife of Samuel Yortz of West Side and the sons are residing in Livingston County. His wife survives him. The funeral will be held in the church at Ancona at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, the remains and friends will leave his late home on Charles Street at 12 o’clock. The internment will be made in the Ancona cemetery.

Mr. Reed had a large circle of acquaintances in this city and Livingston County who will be surprised to hear of his sudden death. He was an excellent gentleman and had many fine traits of character, strictly temperate in all of his habits. He was a good citizen and neighbor and will be missed in all the community.
