My Present Location: Webuye, Western Province, Kenya

Greetings from Bungoma, Western Province, Kenya.

During the last two days of the mission here, we have been holding an outdoor evangelistic crusade in a rural area known as Muhonja, East of Webuye, Kenya.

The first day as we were preparing to set up, the enemy set up many obstacles and gave us much opposition. We overcame all eventually, and finally were successful at getting all the equipment set up. The drivers who we had arranged with to carry the equipment had tried to abscond with the amplifier mixer. But praise be to God, their truck broke down, the police were alerted, and all was recovered.

Finally, I was preaching at about 6 P.M.. Surprisingly, for a rural market area, it seemed that the whole market went to heaven the first night. About 250 expressed their desire to give their lives to Christ.

Last night, the second day of the outreach, about 150 more came forward to pray with us and confess Jesus as their Lord. Jesus was also present both days, working with us in the gospel, as signs and wonders were occurring. More than ten were testifying last night that they had received healings and had been touched by the Lord.

So, the pace of things has picked up noticeably. We have had more than 420 confess their faith in Christ while I have been here on this trip, and we still have the big event to go. Next week, I will be entering the nation of Rwanda for the first time, to preach in the capital city of Kigali. I am always excited at the prospect of entering a new nation to preach the gospel. That nation has had an abundance of religion. Jesus Christ is with us in power, so I trust that we will reap a great harvest.

Two days ago, I received instruction from the Lord to buy a truck, for use in our water projects here, and we will use it in evangelism. We have found one that will work, and prophet Mauris Wasike is arranging for terms of purchase. Please pray.

With regard to water projects, the Lord has told me to believe Him for 100 wells, so that is what we are doing. The Lord has brought American Jay Mansfield along side of me to help. Jay has experience in the oil business, and he is working hard to find the drilling equipment, and in raising funds for the venture. I really appreciate his efforts on behalf of the people of Kenya.

It is now dry season here. It is readily apparent that Kittui is not the only place in Kenya with a water problem. We will have no problem finding 100 bore hole sites where the need is acute. Earlier this week, I was in the bush in West Pokot, and the people there carry water several miles from the river.

Here in Webuye, where I am staying, my host has to buy water from about a mile away. They pay to have it hauled to the house by bicycle. The water quality is not very good. I drink only bottled water here. But, there is not very much water available for washing. We have to conserve at our every use.

As usual, money is chasing me. I am waiting for it to catch up. I will be meeting with the fifty orphans of pastor Emmanuel in Kampala on Monday. I hope to have something to give them. Then, it is on to Rwanda, where I am told there are many, many orphans who are in need of the most basic assistance. I trust that God will once again allow me to keep my streak going. In all my missions, wherever I have gone, I have never lacked for money to give orphans when I have visited them.

Thanks and blessings to all of you who have helped.

Just as additional aside, I have read two articles about the tsunami of 11 days ago. There are a couple of points about it that were not mentioned anywhere in WPA.

First, the tsunami hit in Aceh, Sumatra on Sunday morning, while church goers were in their churches. Many hundreds were killed in their churches, all gathered together. And second, aid workers are not finding any animal corpses. Apparently, the animals heard their creator and escaped to high ground. The workers have not found a single large animal: not even a dog or cat among the more than 150,000 dead. This is incredible, and I have seen it discussed in two secular media sources. It is as it was in the days of Noah, when obedient animals entered the ark of safety, while the humans were destroyed. In this case, it is clearly judgement in the house of the Lord, as carried out by God, simultaneously with his judgement upon the wicked in that area.

It is clear that what we heard as a group in October, in Monteagle, has begun to occur. Judgement has begun in the house of God. God has sealed his remnant. His wrath is beginning to be poured out upon a wicked and sinful generation.

Pray that we may gather more into heaven while it is still day, and men can still do the work of the gospel, for darkness is coming, when no man will be able to work.

My email access has been very slow the last few times online. It is difficult to communicate here with people who have contacted me, so please, be patient with me.

Here is the itinerary for the next trip, from December 27, 2004, to January 21, 2005

December 29th to January 2nd 2005-meetings will be taking place at Chwele, Western Province, Kenya

January 4th to 5th, 2005-meetings at Kolongolo

January 6th to 9th, 2005-meetings at Chepsaida

January 12 to 15th, 2005-meetings at Kigali, Rwanda

January 18th to 20th, 2005-meetings at Malaha, Western Province, Kenya. This is prophet Maurice's church.

Blessings,
Stephen L. Bening

My Africa Wish List Is As Follows:

Project #1-$100,000-For 100 water wells, beginning at Kittui. This money will purchase drilling equipment and a large truck to carry it in. This week, I will purchase a small "Hi-Rider" truck for carrying men and fuel. Received thus far: $7,000

Project #2-$5,000-Two, 250 person event tents-cost $2,500 each. I have already visited the tent manufacturer in Nairobi. We need this tent for holding bigger crusades in Kenya.

Project #3-$7,500-We need to purchase a sound system for use in the Kenya crusades. I am planning on being in Africa, four times per year. We rented the sound system for the three events we just held. We anticipate holding bigger events, and we will need a more powerful system. With the sound system, we need a generator to power it.

Project #4-$5,000-A truck for David Machimbo Walukhu, my missions coordinator, in Kenya. Right now, David has no vehicle, and travels by bus. I am purchasing one this week, for dual use with the water project.

Project #5-$2,500-Repair for a large, panel Isuzu truck, that is currently sitting idle at Sowetto Academy, Nairobi. We will use this truck for hauling of tent and equipment.

Project #6-$5,000-Completion of the stone wall that will totally encircle Sowetto Academy. This is really needed to keep people from using walkways right through the middle of the school and orphanage. Right now, the wall is about 25% complete.

Project #7-$20,000-My estimate for the cost that it would take for Chris Ocumu to accomplish a second floor addition to the school building in Sowetto Academy.

So, there it is: $60,000 for the equipment. Add in $10,000 for my airfare and costs for four trips per year, and $10,000 for flyers and posters and $20,000 for other event costs for the 2005 outreach events and you have $100,000. Jesus says, "you have not because you ask not". I say, Lord Jesus, I Am Asking!
