Wow another year of skimming has past. It's time to get this season into full gear. We are running the event in August this year. Why ?? I have a feeling this hurricane season will be a big as last year, so we don't want a repeat. There is a "New Moon" phase the weekend of the event, so the tides will be higher and stronger. Everyone knows what that means....Vilano should be firing for every one.
My Story for you kids.....In the early 80's my claim to fame was incorporating Skateboard tricks into skimboarding with my friends on the gulf coast of Florida, thus pioneering such tricks as shuvet's, ollie's and jumping over 10 crazy people on their hands and knees, or whoever would sit in front of me on a lounge chair. Well one day I watched this video from California of guys skimboarding actual waves. This guy named Tex Haines sent it over. It was of he and his friends, It was sick!! Not long after that a friend of mine took me to the eastcoast to surf, once there I had a chance to try out my skimboarding skills on real waves. Well after breaking an ankle, and several scars, I realized that this was what would make people turn their heads and watch.
I moved to the Vilano beach area in the late 80's and polished my skills into being considered the best wave rider from Florida at the time.
This is the 11th year anniversary of an event I love to organize. I'm a skimboarder, I've always been a skimboarder (30+years), and I will always be a skimboarder. I live at the BEST break for skimboarding in Florida. My friends and I, as well as my son Makai are considered some of the best Skimboarders in the world, and they grew up skimming this beach with me.
All of us invite all of you to attend the COOLEST, BIGGEST, SKIMBOARDING CONTEST ON THE EASTCOAST.
This event will always be my gift to the sport. Thanks for all the memories. Steve.
If you were in last years event, you don't need to download an entry, one will be mailed to you in the coming weeks. If you have moved, my advise is to download an entry.
Three day event again, with Pro's, Juniors, and Men's rounds competing Friday evening. Checkin will begin at 3:00pm. Event metting will start at 4:00pm, with heat's starting diectly after, no later than 5:00pm.
We are excepting the first 200 entries, ONLY !!
That is our cutoff due to time restraints. The 3 days of competiton equates to 27 hours of heats, we just don't have anymore time.
The deadline to enter this event is midnight August 12th, 2005. You need to mail entries before August 5th, 2005 if you reside outside of Florida to ensure they arrive on time.
In past years we have allowed beach entries, and I have even waived the late fees for you guy's, which is really unheard of.
But now this event has grown into the largest Skimboarding event with a double elimination format in the nation, we just don't have time to deal with contestants who want to see what it's like when they get here.
So don't wait, and miss out on the fun.

Wed August 17th, we will meet at 2:00 P.M. at S.P.O.T., you can arrive earlier if you would like.The event will start at 6:00 P.M. Following the event we will head to Carmine's in YBOR city for dinner (my treat).
Following dinner we all need to head back to Orlando.
The wavepool event will start at 6:00 A.M., thats right 6:00 A.M. Thursday August 18th, everyone has to be in the parking lot by 5:45 A.M. As before we all enter the park together. If you are not present at time of entry you will not be able to get in the park. You won't get kicked out of the whole tour, you will just receive last place in this event. After the event you have 24hours to get to Vilano, so you can do what you please. Thanks.
