Supercross reviews from the 2000 season:

Don't forget that the supercross season begins on January 8. The 2000 season was the most exciting season supercross has ever seen. Once again, Jeremy McGrath dominated the 250 class and won his seventh supercross title. His only losses were to Kevin Windham, David Vuillemin, and Ricky Charmichael. This was David's first full season on a 250. Although it was his first, he provided a lot of pressure on McGrath during the races. If this was David's rookie season, think of what he can do next year. He is very fast and determined to win. He has the potential to win the title next year. It is not quite as easy as it sounds though. Jeremy McGrath now realizes Vuillemin's speed and will train hard over the summer, and come out swinging next year. Ricky Charmichael stepped it up a notch this year also. He was more patient and did not seem to fight the bike as much. In the '99 season, RC was a wild child. He still has a lot to learn, but he is learning quickly. His bright spot this year was smoking McGrath at Daytona. The margin from first to second was immense. It accounted for RC's first 250 supercross victory. It was a frustrating year for Kevin Windham this year. He can get fantastic starts and stay ahead of McGrath for a while, but once he gets passed by him, he fades all the way down the pack. He has a lot of talent, but Kevin and many others seem to believe that it is a mental thing. Towards the end of the season, Kevin seemed to figure out how to overcome his problems. A win a Houston and a moto victory at Las Vegas showed that Kevin has the speed to win. The 125 class was jam packed and more exciting than ever. New hopefules like Travis Pastrana provided the best racing the 125 class has seen in a long time. Travis was a little wild in the beginning of the season, but I think Roger DeCoster talked some sense into him and Travis calmed down and found his groove. His biggest wins were at Daytona and LasVegas. Stephane Roncada had an awesome season. He was extremely fast, and if you need me to prove that, just think of him starting back in the pack and catching Travis Pastrana from behind. This was his year, and he walked home with the number one plate. Shae Bentley finally had a break. After numerous seasons full of injury, and thinking of retirement, Shae came out and won the 125 west title. He rode hard, and never gave up. He deserved it. A good battle between Shae and Roncada was expected in Las Vegas, but sickness took shae down. He was unable to appear because of a stomache virus. Well, the closing of a supercross season came to a close with nac nac's and heel clicker's, but the nationals are underway now, and more action is ahead. But think of how much more exciting the 250 class would have been if Ezra Lusk, Jimmy Button, Jeff Emig, and Greg Albyrteen were racing. Jimmy Button is likely done with his racing career after a nasty practice crash that left him paralyzed. He can walk now, and is showing large improvement. Jeff Emig is not in good condition either. He broke both of his wrists before the season, and after he healed, he was getting ready for the nationals, when his throttle stuck over a huge jump. He bailed, and messed up his back also. The were both good riders, and supercross will miss them a lot.
