WELCOME!

At FURNii we know that furniture should intensify passion to the highest pitch, that knowledge is subjective and should induce us to accept paradox in our daily lives.  Therefore, we offer ensembles inspired by Søren Kierkegaard, creating distinctive collections that push the boundaries of faith in what a chair or sofa can objectively mean.

Sickness unto Death

from the Sickness unto Death collection

To be conscious of oneself as a particular existing individual involves not only having furniture but also living in accordance with that furniture.

The Sickness unto Death home-office work space attempts to synthesize the finite concerns of work and domesticity with the infinite striving to enter a subjective relationship with God--a paradox that is, of course, objectively absurd--but why not have a seat anyway?

Passionate Inwardness chair & stool

"Blind Faith" is not the belief that someday someone will be able to objectively "prove" that God exists; instead, it is a person's commitment of himself or herself to have a faith in God not based in any objective fact.

The Passionate Inwardness ensemble helps that "leap of faith" along.  Upholstered "hair shirt" seat makes suffering doubt easy, and placing the stool far away (as seen here) evokes the chasm between the existent and the Infinite--an unbridgeable gap of despair.

Jan studied architecture at Søfa Interiør, Copenhagen, where he received a PhD in Ingeniousness.
