Chapter 8-Ladies' Night

"You guys are so lucky," Shiara said to Julie and Candice.

"How so?" Candice asked as she rooted through her carry-on bag for something.

"Duh, you've got Justin and Howie now!"

Candice looked up at her friend for a brief second. "Eh, no biggie." She continued to look through the bag. "Where are they?"

"No biggie?" Shiara said, raising an eyebrow. "You're having a very casual approach to this."

Candice shrugged. "They're guys. Granted, hot guys, but guys still."

After the semi-chaos of the previous night's dinner, the girls had decided to have a "chick night" sleepover in Christy's room. All four girls had crowded into the room and were spread out all over.

A large sign that read Girls' Night: No Guys Allowed (especially AJ) was taped to the door. Chris had stared at it, then walked off, muttering something about being sexist. At this, Candice had yelled at him, "We're not sexist!"

"Aha," Candice said after digging through her bag long enough. "Cards."

"Why do we need cards?" Julie inquired.

"You'll find out later. Now I need some paper." She started shuffling through the bag again.

Suddenly there was a knock at the door. "Who is it?" Julie asked.

"It's Chris. You're being sexist, and mean to AJ," he said in a whiny voice.

Christy sighed. "That was my objective, in being mean to AJ. But, for the millionth time, we are not sexist."

"Yes you are!"

"No we're not!" Shiara yelled in response.

Candice got up and went to the door and opened it to face Chris. "Hey, Chrissy. If we were sexist, why on Earth would we be here? We wouldn't enjoy your company, or the company of any guy in this house for that matter."

Chris' eyes grew a little glazed over in confusion. "Oh-kay now."

"Did this go over your head?" Candice said teasingly.

"Lemme go think about this." Chris headed down the hall, and Candice closed the door after him. "Good grief," she remarked. "Ya think that he would give up, but nooo...." She dropped herself onto the bed.

"Anyway..." Shiara said. "So, Candice, I want you to tell me what happened with you and Howie." She paused, trying to create an effect. "Wait, I don't want you to tell me. I demand you to tell me what happened."

Candice rolled her eyes. "Stuff. I dragged him into the bathroom...."

"Very romantic," Julie mumbled. Christy laughed.

"And we just kissed, ya know? It was instant chemistry." A smile spread across Candice's face.

"I don't buy the 'instant chemistry' bit," Christy muttered. "I mean, it was in a bathroom. How much chemistry can you have in there?"

"Well, alright, not exactly the best place to kiss for the first time, but ya gotta work with whatcha got, right?" Candice shrugged.

"Guess so." Christy hung upside down from the bed. Candice stared at her. "What?"

"You always do that."

"Point being?"

"Nevermind."

Candice pulled the cards out and began to shuffle them. "Alright... I can tell your destiny with the help of these cards. Who wants to play?"

"I'll do it," Christy volunteered. She rolled off the bed and onto the floor, where Candice was digging out the aces from the deck. "Give me the names of four guys, in this house or out the house."

"Okay, Joey, Lance, Chris..."

"...AJ..." Shiara supplied. Christy gave her a look.

"No way in hell."

"Come on," Candice said chidingly. "It's just a game. It's not like you're really gonna end up with him."

Christy sighed hesitantly. "Alright. AJ."

"Alrighty then, Lance has hearts, AJ has spades, Joey has clubs, and Chris has diamonds." Candice shuffled the cards. "Ask a question."

"Hrm... who would pay for the date himself?"

Candice passed the cards out until one of them matched the ace. "Aha, it's Joey."

"Figures," Shiara said as she slid a CD into the stereo. Aaliyah's "Try Again" started up.

"Next question," Candice replied. "I love this song."

"Who... I don't wanna ask it."

"Why not?" a voice from behind the door asked.

"What the hell?!" Julie said. "Who is that?"

"Ask it! Ask it!" the voice chanted.

Christy got up and went to the door, and flung it open to find Joey and AJ crouched down, eavesdropping. "Excuse me, gentlemen... what do you think you're doing?"

Joey smiled sheepishly. "Uhh..."

"Look boys, this is none of your business. So go do whatever it is that guys do when they have spare time. And AJ?"

"Yes?" AJ said, perking up.

"Drop dead."

Joey sighed. "Come on, AJ, no need to keep bothering them. Let's go."

"Don't let the door swat ya on the ass on the way out!" Candice shouted. As Christy closed the door she glared at her.

"Whaaat? Let's get back to the game. Ask a question, better yet finish that one you were going to ask."

"Okay... who's best in bed?" Christy asked, her voice going into a low whisper. Shiara and Julie snickered. "I bet it'll be AJ..."

"Wrong! It's Chris!" Candice laughed gleefully.

"That was unexpected. Okay... the glow-in-the-dark question."

Candice's mouth dropped into an 'o'. "Ohmigod, you remember that? Oh gosh!" She erupted into a fit of giggles.

"Yes, who could forget that?"

"What," Julie asked, "are you talking about?"

"We'll explain it later, Julie..." Christy said.

From outside the door, Candice heard someone coughing, then someone whisper, "Shut up, Joey!"

"Hey... listen y'all."

The girls all shut up, then heard Brian's voice say, "Hey y'all, they stopped talking."

"You sure B-Rok?" AJ asked.

Christy smiled devilishly. "Watch this." She rolled off the bed and crawled to the door. She opened the door slowly and all of the guys fell on the floor in front of the girls.

"Oww! Get off me, Kevin!" Chris whined.

Christy leaned over. "That's what you get for bein' closest to the door, Shorty!"

"I resent that remark about my height!"

Julie moaned. "This is insane!"

"That's it; girls' night cancelled due to annoying males present," Candice moaned. She got up and walked through the door that adjoined her room and Christy's. "G'night."

"We're goin' to our rooms too," Shiara said, crawling over the guys to get out. Julie followed close after Shiara. Chris let out an audible moan of pain.

Christy just crossed her arms and stared at the guys for awhile. "Are you just going to lay there all night?" she said to them. "'Cause I kinda want to have my doorway back, if that's okay with you."

"Okay," Joey said, getting up. "Goodnight."

The rest of the guys got up to, leaving poor Chris lying on the ground in pain. "You people... suck!" he shouted.

"Goodnight Shorty," Christy said teasingly as she slammed the door in Chris' face, leaving him to make one last comment before he got up:

"Sexist!"
