Chapter 4-I Spy

After dinner the girls were hanging out in the living room watching TV. Candice was eating a Snickers bar, and had just bitten off a large piece of it when Joey walked in.

"Hey, we're going to go swimming," he said. "You girls want to join us?"

At the mention of the word "swimming", Candice choked on the piece of the candy bar she had in her mouth. She began coughing and wheezing. Christy whacked her on the back.

Joey raised an eyebrow. "You okay?"

Candice cleared her throat. "Oh... yeah. I'm fine."

"The invitation is still open." Joey walked out.

Christy turned to Candice. "Next time, CHEW for about 30 seconds, then swallow," she said sarcastically.

"Forget that," Candice said. "Think about it: there are gonna be shirtless guys in the pool in a few minutes. If that isn't your idea of fine viewing, then I don't know what is."

"Where can we watch them?" Julie asked.

"Follow me," Candice instructed. "I know the perfect place." She led them upstairs and to the bedroom at the end of the girls' hallway.

"We're in the guest bedroom," Christy said.

"I know. But check this out." Candice walked over to a door that Christy and Julie thought led to a closet. When she opened it, however, they saw a flight of stairs.

"Dude, where do those go to?" Julie asked.

"Up to that lighthouse we saw on the way in. I found it before dinner. We can go up here and get a great view of everything."

The girls walked up the spiral staircase until they reached the top of the lighthouse. Looking out, they could see the top of the house, a long sprawl of beach, the boat dock where the ferry came to pick up and take visitors to and from the mainland, as well as the pool, where the girls immediate attention was focused. The island was a beautiful, thriving tropical oaisis, but the guys around and in the pool added to nature's natural beauty. The girls had never seen such nicely toned and built guys all in one place. It was almost a temporary heaven on earth.

"Whoa," Christy remarked.

"Hallelujah, I've died and gone to heaven," Candice commented.

Julie leaned over the railing and yelled down to Justin, "Work it, baby, work it!"

"Julie!" Candice grabbed the back of her shirt and pulled her down, ducking to prevent the guys from seeing her. "Rule number one for being up here: look but don't talk! We could get caught, and Lord knows that'd be bad."

"Okay," Julie said nervously.

"What's the second rule?" Christy asked.

"Bring binoculars if you want a close-up view." Candice looked over the railing. "All clear."

*********

While Christy, Candice, and Julie were in the lighthouse checking out the guys in the pool, Brian and Shiara were coming in with all the groceries. "Man, these things are heavy," Shiara said as she placed a few of them on the table.

"I told you it'd be a lot of stuff," Brian told her.

"I had to see it to believe it. Where's the other girls?"

Just as she made that last remark, the three girls showed up with fluffy white towels over their arms. "Hey," Christy said.

"What are you guys doing?" Brian asked.

"We're the towel girls," Candice said.

"Towel girls?"

Candice pointed out the window and to the pool.

"Oh."

JC came to the door, slid it open, and said sweetly, "Would one of you girls be so kind as to bring me a towel?"

Shiara's jaw dropped at the sight of him.

"Damn," Candice whispered.

"Sure." Julie took a towel to him.

"Thank you." He closed the door after he came in and walked past the awe-stricken girls. Shiara could barely take her eyes off him.

"Well, it looks like someone's got a crush on JC," Brian said teasingly.

"Please," Shiara said, walking out of the kichen and into the living room. "He's cute, but...."

"But what?" Brian asked as he followed her into the living room.

Candice whistled. "That boy looks good," she said. Christy rolled her eyes. That's Candice for ya, she thought.
