Happy Anniversary to Us!

although it seems as if BSB isn't happy to be here, you know they wanna party on down with us. And *NSYNC... they love us. Ya know they love us. (Oh, and by the way... Candice's comments are in blue, Christy's are in red)

Well people... as of March 19, 2001, this site will be one year old! Whoo whoo!

It's been a year and we're still virtually unknown in our psycho ways..... WE MUST TAKE OVER THE SANITY!

We will take over the world... *cackles*

WOO! And we WILL make the 10 guys slaves.

awww YES... hehehe...

And I will personally see to it they're whipped good. LMAO!

Aww yeah... chihuahua spanking... nevermind. Well, what is this, you ask? It's a run-through of the site's history. Read, laugh, enjoy. :)~ And, as always, e-mail us with comments, fan mails, and all dat good stuff.

June 1999
Candice, who had become addicted to fan fiction a few months before, gets an idea to start a fan fiction site with her friend Julie. She vows to ask Julie to work on it after she gets some site making software. It was intended to be a BSB/*NSYNC fiction site called Boys *N SYNC.

how corny, eh?

August 1999
Julie doesn't come through with her plans as co-master of the site, and Candice is thinking of finding a new person to help her with the project. She meets Christy, and they click, mainly talking about their favorite pop groups. Candice introduces the concept of fan fiction to Christy, who's pretty interested in it.

August 29, 1999
Christy attends her first *NSYNC concert at Walnut Creek with Julie.

and Candice stayed at home, green with envy...

early September 1999
Candice mentions her plans for her fiction site to Christy, and the fact that it would be good to have a co-webmistress. Christy volunteers to fill these shoes.

*yAy*! I had help, finally!

September 9, 1999
BSB and *NSYNC appear on the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards. BSB walks away with the Viewers' Choice Award, for "I Want It That Way". They perform with a medley of that song and their then-latest hit "Larger Than Life". *NSYNC doesn't win any awards but they make a great performance with Britney Spears, singing "Tearin' Up My Heart".

ahhh, that was ill...

September 17, 1999
Candice sees BSB in Charlotte on the first date of the 'Into the Millennium' US tour with Shiara. (I was on MTV!!! The sleeve of my shirt was, to be technical...) It rocked, and Kevin's pants split! (FUNNY!)

late September 1999
now partners in crime, Candice and Christy are fumbling around for a new name for the site, 'cause Boys *N SYNC just isn't cuttin' it. So, after about three days of deliberation, Candice comes up with a name: The Orlando Gallery.

Yeah, so that was the name we chose. Why? 'Cause '10 Guys, 2 Girls, and a Fan Fiction Website' just didn't cut it.

October 1999
Candice pitches an idea for a story to Christy. She's had it for awhile now and she thinks it shows potential. Four contest winners get to spend a summer in a beach house with BSB and *NSYNC. Christy gets a few ideas, and with some brainstorming the plot is changed from a Real World-esque drama to a zany comedy, soon named Summer Lovin'.

October 12, 1999
from MTV.com News Archives:

Boy band 'N Sync and its brand spanking new label, Jive Records, have been slammed with a $150 million lawsuit filed Tuesday morning by former 'N Sync guru Louis J. Pearlman, his management team Trans Continental Media, Trans Continental Records, and BMG Entertainment, owner of 'N Sync's spurned label, RCA Records.

The lawsuit (filed in federal court in Orlando, Florida) also targets Jive Records' owner Zomba Recording and cites, among many alleged legal wrongdoings, breach of contract. One of Pearlman's lawyers told MTV News on Tuesday afternoon that the suit also "seeks to obtain a court order to prevent 'N Sync from existing" unless the group honors its management contract with Trans Continental Media and its recording contract with RCA.

As we reported earlier this month, 'N Sync announced that it was jumping from RCA Records and that Jive would release the group's next album in early 2000 (see "'N Sync Jumps To Jive Records; New Album Delayed").

A spokeswoman for Jive Records told MTV News, "We have not been served with any papers from BMG or Trans Continental Records."

Last week, the Backstreet Boys also took a swing at Jive, charging that label with breach of contract and claiming that they were no longer on the label (see "Backstreet Boys Shopping For New Record Label").

'N Sync's manager, Johnny Wright, was not available for comment as of press time.

Candice gets an idea to start a petition for the guys. She dubs it "Save SYNC" and takes it to school, where *NSYNC-loving classmates sign.

late October 1999

*NSYNC debuts "Bye Bye Bye", the first single from No Strings Attached on the Radio Music Awards.

December 1999
BSB and *NSYNC appear at the Billboard Awards. Both groups walk away with awards.

December 10, 1999
Candice celebrates her 14th birthday. She buys the import single to "I Want It That Way" to celebrate.

I mainly bought it for "My Heart Stays With You", to tell the truth. I (heart) that song. Just like I (heart) Howie. LOL.

December 23, 1999
*NSYNC's lawsuit with Lou Perlman is settled.

December 31, 1999
New Years' Eve '99. Christy and I talk on the phone and watch the World Premiere of Backstreet's "Show Me the Meaning...". To keep me from crying, Christy makes sarcastic remarks to keep me amused. As the ball drops we make wishes for the guys:

Kevin: love and happiness
Chris: sanity
Howie: same as Kevin, and "keep the abs!"
JC: sleep time
Brian: good luck with his puppies
Joey: "believe you can fly!
AJ: sanity (seriously from Christy)
Lance: more leads
Nick: stay Nick and eat Mentos (LOL)
Justin: become a blonde AGAIN!

This, of course, was before the Kevin/Kristen thing and Brian's puppies getting dognapped, and when Justin's hair was a shade of light brown.

January 24, 2000
*NSYNC's video for "Bye Bye Bye" debuts on MTV's Making the Video.

February 18, 2000
Candice sees BSB for the third time in Raleigh with Shiara and her friend Katie W. Little does she know Christy is at the concert too, making it her first Backstreet experience. Candice has a blast, and waves a ghetto poster around.

don't ask... please don't.

February 22, 2000
BSB starts the whole alleged "we hate *NSYNC thing". As seen on MTV.com's news section:

Given the familiar ground that they have seemed to share throughout their careers, it is perhaps no surprise that rumors of negative feelings between the Backstreet Boys and 'NSYNC have dogged the Boys for some time.

The Boys have long been rumored to have some negative feelings regarding the encroachment of 'NSYNC on their boy band turf, especially since both bands were created by teen pop guru Louis J. Pearlman and they briefly shared manager Johnny Wright. 'NSYNC even jumped ship to Backstreet's Jive Records in September of last year.

The Boys have remained quiet in the past about any conflict, even during 'NSYNC's recent legal woes with Lou Pearlman (who Backstreet waged their own legal clash with in 1998). However, the Boys addressed the issue with MTV News' John Norris last week and talked about the 'NSYNC shadow that always seems to fall across their own limelight.

"It's more frustrating on the creative side, like, who you choose to write music with, who you choose to work with and produce your record, who you choose to direct your videos," Backstreet's Kevin Richardson told Norris. "I mean, it's like, 'Find your own identity.'"

"If we talk about things and communicate ideas we want to do, we turn on the TV and it would be done, because of the fact that at that moment in time of our careers, we were being represented by the same people," Backstreet's Brian Littrell added. "We remember, at the Billboard Awards in Vegas, that time when Garth [Brooks] flew out and we turned and we said, 'We want to do that,' and then somebody else is doing it."

"We just... we try hard to be different," Backstreet's Nick Carter said. "We try to have a straight path. Then we see something happening, then we try to go the other way, then all of a sudden somebody starts following us, you know what I'm saying?"

While the topic is a bit of a sore subject, the Boys say they try not to dwell on it. "What we want to do is not look at other people," Richardson said. "We want to look forward and onward towards what we want to do, and that's what we've been doing in the past, and we're not worried about anybody else and what they're doing. We're focusing on us."

MTV.com is the place of plenty of BSB and *NSYNC fan bickering. Candice finds out a few weeks later and is annoyed.

March 19, 2000
Candice decides to go ahead and launch The Orlando Gallery before NSA is released. She succeeds in quickly making a home page and posting the first couple of chapters of SL up.

and then, two days later... history is made.

March 21, 2000
*NSYNC's long-awaited sophomore album No Strings Attached is released. Both Christy and I get the album on the first day. It sells 2.4 million copies on its first week alone, breaking the record of first-week sales previously set by BSB's Millennium, which sold 1.13 million albums.

take THAT, Backstreet! Okay, that's mean, LMAO. But... that was an awesome moment.

late April 2000

May 2000
Candice and Christy graduate from middle school, and the Gallery suffers its first major mishap: the main page is mysteriously deleted. However, Candice manages to fix everything. BSB's Millennium celebrates its first birthday.

I remember that day (when the main page was deleted)... I was sooo pissed! I was like, throwing a fit! LOL.

June 2, 2000

mid-July 2000
The Gallery's humor section (the called 'da Gift Shop) is made. It contains song parodies and conspiracy theories on the various members of the groups. For example, Justin is genetically altered to be perfect, AJ is a vampire, and Leighanne (Brian's wife) is the by-product of a Pamela Anderson Lee and Mariah-obsessed scientist.

I know, we're weird...

They end the performance with a bump-and-grinding, booty-shakin' dance routine. At the same time, they walk away with three awards, including Best Pop Video. Kid Rock remarks on *NSYNC's McDonalds commercials by saying, "No offense to the Backstreet Boys, but the commercial that 'NSYNC did for McDonald's was way cooler than the one that the Backstreet Boys did for Burger King."

one, two, three to the four, I think it's time you get on the floor, and if you're looking for a hot boy to freak, I'm tellin' you girl it's gonna be ME! LOVE THAT!

*NSYNC appears on Larry King Live, where Chris announces his breakup with his girlfriend Danielle. They also appear on the American Music Awards, as does BSB.

Both *NSYNC and BSB appear at the Superbowl. BSB sings the National Anthem, while *NSYNC does a Halftime show with Areosmith, Britney, Mary J. Blige, and Nelly that rocked the house.
