JONATHAN M. VICK

JMV's BIO

Jonathan M. Vick was born in January of 1970, making him an Aquarius and quite possibly a genius.

He grew up in a small town near Aurora about an hour SouthEast of Chicago, Illinois.

His education includes such prestigious Universities as Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford, Northwestern and Oxford . . . in that he has been educated in their existence and hopes, one day, to receive honorary degrees from one or more of them.

Jonathan learned playwriting (and little else) from Oswego High School (Oswego, IL.), the College of DuPage, IL. and the Chicago Dramatists Workshop.

Initially, he learned acting and directing from David and Donna Barnes at Oswego High School who gave him, not only the best education, but also the drive and self-confidence to pursue a serious theatrical career (which he has yet to do, by the way). After graduation (and he has the degree to prove that it actually happened, in case there was any doubt) he continued his education by performing in shows at Aurora's Riverfront Playhouse, which hangs, precariously, over the Fox River, which flows, sludge-like beneath. He then attended the College of DuPage where he recieved his Associate in Arts Degree, fully qualifying him to associate with the arts, which he does, on occassion, if he feels he can get away with it. It was here that he wrote, directed and produced his first play.

JMV's BIO

In 1991, after realizing that Chicago Theatre is some of the best in the world and certainly a wonderful place for an actor and playwrite to make himself known, Jonathan decided to move to Florida, where it doesn't snow.

He quickly got a lousy job with the Walt Disney World Co. and settled . . . not in a good way.

On February 28, 2002, he went completely out of his mind, quit his lucrative job and moved to New Jersey, where it snows a lot!

By June, his mind had been restored to it's full capacity. However, he found himself hungry, homeless and flat broke in Queens, New York. So ... he dragged his failure-laden butt back to Florida, where the sun could warm his cold, dead heart, and his chances of survival were greater.

He's still flat broke, but he's no longer broke alone. While perusing the internet one night he happened upon a stray Instant Message, and stumbled into a relationship. He fought valiantly, but fell in love anyway.

Now he's planning his own wedding, helping to raise a nine-year old, and attending Rollins College in Orlando, FL.

You'd think all these changes would hamper him from writing plays!! You would be wrong. And it wouldn't be the first time.

In 1994 he founded the Defying MacBeth Theatre Group in Orlando, FL. and has been writing directing and producing his plays as often as he is able to find space.

Sadly, as yet, none of his plays have been published, nor professionally produced . . . but we all remain hopeful. Don't we?

To date, Jonathan has written nearly a dozen plays, both full-length and one acts.
