Snowpony /From the Heart of Dalston

"Snowpony are the lascivious sound of lazy sex in the afternoon, disappointment recalled with a wry smile over the last of the tequila.Inspired as much by drugs, sexual excess and bad relationships as Northern Soul and Einsturzende Neubaten, their sound is a beguiling combination of narcotic loops and amphetamine beats."
-from the Radioactive Records press release.

Hello and welcome to the unofficial Snowpony page! Here you will find information, reviews, pictures, and just about everything else Snowpony-related I can get my hands on.

Begun in 1996,the group includes Katharine Gifford,Debbie Googe, and Kevin Bass, the new drummer.Periphrial members include Ian Bishop. The album,The Slow-Motion World of Snowpony, released on Radioactive Records, was produced by John McEntire of Tortoise, and contains samples taken from songs by Sonic Youth,Nick Cave, and the Sonics. Deb Googe designed the cover, and yes, those are Katharine's feet pictured in the interior. The album itself is a phenomenal mix of aural textures;usual sounds like guitar and drums battle for dominance against programmed samples of cowbells and apocalyptic horn sections. Some people will compare them to bands like Garbage and Moloko, but I think they've manged to craft their own distinct world.

Most everything is a little under construction--thanks in advance for your patience.
