Adding A Site

This list is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of prayer request sites. If you have not already done so, I highly suggest you look over the Why? page. This will give you a general idea of the sites I include.

Before I include a site on my list, I ask myself "Would I use this site?"

The first thing I consider is how fast the site loads. I use the internet during the day. If your server is busy during these hours, your site will load slowly no matter how small your page is. Graphics will also slow down the loading. While this is not a hard and fast rule, try to keep the number of graphics on your request page to 10 or less. The combined total of graphics should be less than 100k.

The second consideration is "Does the request page itself state how the request is treated?" There were a number of sites out there that I wanted to include, but I couldn't tell whether the request was public or private. Compiling the list takes enough time on its own - trying to verify privacy just adds more time. (Note: I do like public requests, I want to know they're public!)

The last major consideration concerns public request sites: Are they current? Believe it or not, while compiling this list I came across several sites where the most recent request was almost a year old! I can understand moderating a site, but I expect the most recent request to be less than a week old - preferably less than 2 days.

One final note. I am beginning to have an aversion to geocities sites. Up to now, I have considered quite a few. As time goes on, though, I am getting more and more annoyed with the frequency with which I have to close an unwanted advertising window. There may come a time in the not-too-distant future when I flat out refuse to list any site from this server - or any other server that emulates this activity. You have every right to choose which server you use... likewise I have every right to choose not to include it in my listing. I must say at this point, though, that I have been quite pleased with angelfire.

If you believe your site meets these requirements, leave me feedback and I will consider your site. I cannot predict the future, but I will do my best to reply to your Email within a week. In my reply, I will state whether or not I've decided to include your site. If I decide not to, I'll state precisely why. Keep in mind that I said that I only list sites that I would use. This is a highly subjective decision - not necessarily ruled by any logic. But I suspect that I'm not alone in my preferences. If you look over the list, though, you'll see that I am reasonably open minded when it comes to this decision.
