So you want to make money online ?

Well so do I.

I have learned one thing in my short time trying to make money

online that I would like to share with you.

It is... patience .

This is not a get rich quick medium as some would have you believe.

It is instead a vast untapped resource that will make us all money, given time, patience, and a will to experiment around until we find the combination that works for us.

Here is what I have tried.

Hiding a commercial site inside a page that should have been just for fun.

(big flop)

Making a link page that just directed people to links that I got paid for them to visit or buy something from.

(not as big a flop, but not the money machine I hoped for either)

A home page that I shared my interests in, including making money online and some mixed up wit and sarcasm with a few goofy pictures thown in for good measure.

(by far the greatest sucess)

Here is what I learned.

Keep it simple.

( you may impress people with your HTML magic but you will annoy more with a page that loads slow or worse does not work, or crashes thier browser. And, if you are using an affiliate program that you don't understand, the people you send there won't either)

Keep it real

(do what you know, what you like, what you are familiar with)

Get help

(there are loads of great sites that will help you with whatever your stumped on, use the free ones. You sometimes have to sort through some bull, but that is the case with alot of pay for use sites too)

You get what you pay for BUT...

(You can also add your time and effort into the equation. Not all free servers are bad and not all paid ones are good, so start with a free one and then when your ready to put more than time ,ie. money, into your project go to a paid server and get your own .com address. If you doubt this last statement . (You are here and reading it aren't you? This page will only be put on free servers. A lot of the pages I have read, that make the statement, "free servers don't work", have an affiiation with a server or register a .com service, so take stuff like that with a grain of salt)

These are the easiest make money on the web programs I have found yet.

I have been using GoTo World's Paid to Surf Browser for a couple weeks now. I found that it is working well although it is taking a little getting used to. It is in Internet Explorer 5.0 format. (not a browser I normaly use) And due to the amount of memory in my computer, if I try multi-tasking with it on I have the tendency to siez up. After having made some ajustments to how I surf the problem seems to have lessened. One of these days I have to upgrade my memory!

On August 17th 1999 I downloaded the "View Bar for AllAdvantage. It is not a browser like GoTo is and I mean to tell you it is SLICK! It fits nicely at the bottom of my screen and is not obtrusive in any way, to the way I surf. I have multi-tasked, surfed two pages at once and up and downloaded pictures and programs and it just sits there and does its thing. I am very impressed. I am going to recomend that you "auto-hide" your task bar to make a little more room for surfing. I had a wait for the download, but this is worth it BIG TIME!
***NOTE The alladvantage 'View Bar" cannow be downloaded as soon as you sign up! So if you are not doing this RIGHT NOW you , my friend are losing money! and that is BAD.

Okay, by popular demand I will take a stab at explaining how AllAdvantage and the other programs works. (trust me when I say they do a better job) but here goes anyway.

You sign up, if you haven't already, don't forget to before you leave, then download your ad bar that you place on your screen (That you can shut off whenever you like). (Oh stop worring! how many ads are on your screen most of the time? One more won't kill you!) Then (here is the good part) They PAY YOU per hour that you have the ad bar on while you web surf!
And pay you for the time any referals you send them surf (see there page for indepth breakdown.

Q:Where do they get the money?

A: From the people (advertizers) that pay them to have their ads on your screen.

Also they pay for referals, I have made many from my web page, but if you don't want a web page or it is going to be a while before you do, I have made a good number by hanging bulletins in my gym , grocery store, etc. Publisher has a nice ready made one in their program. ***Also if you need help with any how to's email me, I would be glad to help** (The one I have been wanting to try is to go to a computer store and put flyers under windshield wipers, I just know my numbers would skyrocket., but it rains a lot here and I need to pick my day.) But you know what? You don't need referal number one to make money with this so if that is not your style, It's cool. I happen to think stuff like that is fun, and it gets me away from the computer for a while. (Fresh air is good.)

So do me a favor, go sign up, it is FREE, it takes less than a minute (there is no survey to fill out) and if you decide you hate it you can always cancell (that is free too)

If you have web design experience (KUDOS to you) if not start with a web page builder (a template that is available with most build a homepage sites)

Let me see if I can sum up Commission Junction in a nut shell... If you join you can sign up for as many as 450 high paying affiliate programs and direct product links.(at a cost of $0) AND! When you sign up as a "Commission Junction" affiliate I make a buck, and then I make 5% on your earnings (Which does not cost you a thing.) And then you can turn around and do the same thing, ask people who surf to your site to check it out (Hope they sign) Make a buck , and then 5% of their earnings...Can you see where if you got a couple real powerhouses under you this could add up to some serious ching!

Let's talk a minute about affiliate programs

There are several kinds, the ones I like best are pay per click

That is where you get paid per click through from your page

It is usually only a couple cents per click, but if you can get a million clicks that equals serious money!

Here is a credit card service that you can promote on your site, there are lots of up start online businesses these days, and if you are going to do business online you need to take credit cards. (Me, I let others take the credit cards.) My product is knowlage. But you know your site and the traffic you will see best, so you decide for your site.

Exchange it, an online business promotion site. (Take a good look at this one if you are willing to put more than time into your site)

Then there is of course, pay per sale. Where someone has to buy something for you to get paid. Almost anything you can think of is out there so if your site has a theme, look for a banner that is fitting that you can earn a little money off of

And so is this (a good example). See what I mean by "It is all out there."? Now continue down the page, and remember to come back here from time to time as I will most likely be changing the banners as I find things I think are better examples, or just cooler.

NOTE: if you submit to the some search engines more than once (in 30 days is the general rule of thumb), they think you are spamming them and drop your page.

Also, it takes a while for some of the major search engines to list your page, give the big ones as much as a month. I like to go looking for my pages after they have been in a search engine a month or so. Then check to see how close to the top they come up, if it is not within the top 20 or so, I edit my page and search again (in a few weeks). Most of the larger search engines do updates each time they spider your site (or at least that is what they tell ya'), one major one still has info from one of my pages that changed almost 6 months ago, but under a few choice search directives my rating improved on that engine with a little careful editing, so go figure. Using META tags helps alot.Try searching in the search box above for meta tags, and see what you come up with.

a great way to get your page out there (I think you really should do this one...'cause it promotes my site too, and it's FREE !

This one works well, it has generated a good number of hits for the first page I put it on

Let me reiderate ('cause this is important) The two methods above not only promote your page but also promote mine, and perhaps most importantly they allow visitors to your web pages to promote themselves (while promotimg your page-and mine) So to make a long story short (too late). Encourage as many as you can to join these programs, it really only takes one real hot page to join under you and BOOM you get huge numbers of hits, for free!! (and my motto has always been :Free is good).

Join a "Web Ring", if you look at the bottom of this page, you will see a banner for a web ring. What they are is group of links, attached through a banner like the one you see on this page.

It can take the ring master a while to get your site added, so be patient.

Here again, by asking people to join a web ring I am actualy driving future traffic to this site, as well as getting traffic from the sites that were already members.

If you don't see a ring that would be pertenant to your page click here for the web ring homepage and find one that would be beter suited to your page.

It is also a good Idea to have one of these
