Chapter 33

The months had flown by quickly and here it was May again. In the 9 months that had past a lot of little milestones and events had come and gone. Celebrating a lot of birthdays, my father and Claudia had gotten married, my brother and his wife Emily announced that they were expecting their first child(they later found that it was twin girls due in early July), Lance and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary, our baby had his first Christmas and Easter, and first birthday.

It was amazing how our little one was growing. He spoke his first word just a month or so ago, it wasn't much of a surprise that the first word was "dad" since Lance was constantly spoiling and playing with him. Not too long after he muttered "mom" for the first time. Also just the other day while Lance and I were sitting with Tristan watching tv he pulled himself up from the floor by pulling on the couch, stood up and took his first steps, it was one of the highlights of motherhood and fatherhood I'm sure.

The good times did roll but also I was looking on branching out of the stay at home mom thing since Tristan didn't need me 24/7 anymore. So the first thing I decided to do was get back into dancing which I hadn't done in 2 years really, but I had done it since I could walk so I knew it wouldn't be hard to start up again. Downtown was a really accredited dance studio that offered jazz classes which was what I was into, the upbeat, get your groove on kind of dancing. Within a week they decided I shouldn't be in beginners courses and with all my background I should be taking advanced courses. The advanced classes were a lot more fun. We could learn at least 2 full routines inside and out in a little over an hour. I was really enjoying this break I was getting every Monday, Wednsday, and Friday evening for an hour and a half while Lance spent time with Tristan or if he had something to do my Aunt was great about taking care of him.

About 3 weeks into classes on a Friday evening my teacher had some announcements about some open auditions. The studio was always looked at as a place entertainment industries could turn to for some dancers. This audition was calling for 5 women between the ages of 18-25 who would be interested in dancing professionally for an over the summer gig. I thought this could be what I needed. It was something I enjoyed, wanted to do, and it was temporary so I wouldn't be missing too much time out with Tristan. The audition was tomorrow morning at 8 am at a larger studio across town.

I decided the best way to go into this audition was just having myself be the only one knowing about it. I told Lance I had to go out during the day to do some errands and he would have to watch Tristan. He said the guys and him had to work on some details for the tour this coming summer at about 1 or 2 and that if I wasn't home by then he would just take Tristan to Lindsay's for the day.

The audition process was long and hard we had several cuts after we learned a new routine. First off when there was about 65 of us a professional choreographer, Darren Hensen spent a short time with us. We quickly had to regurgitate the moves to "Give it to you" by Jordan Knight that we had learned just minutes before. Judges walked around and studied carefully and came down to 25 of us to move on.

I was so glad to still be in the running. Now was my opportunity to shine when they went on to teach the "Bye Bye Bye" performance that the guys do live. I already knew that down pat from al the rehearsals/performances I had seen. Once again they cut 15 people leaving only 10 of us.

The final dance they taught us was "everybody" by BSB. They had 10 trained guy dancers come out and help with the partner dancers. It was time for the final cut. I was so nervous at this point yet I still felt good knowing how I put all of myself into these auditions.

I MADE IT!!!

I just couldn't believe it, Very informally we all had sat on the floor with water bottles in hand as they gave us the low down on our situation.

"Well first off I'd like to congratulate the five of you young women for making it this far and I really hope you enjoy this job but it's going to be a lot of fun and tough at the same time." Darren went on explaining. "Also really before we go on with the dates, times, etc. I think we need to start by introducing you to the 5 part group you'll be dancing with."

I had no clue who it could be. I thought it was some amature group that would be opening up for other groups at local gigs. I was never prepared for this...
