“Hello?” he answered
“Lance it’s Joey. We’re back in Orlando and we’re at Jen’s now where are all of you?”
“We’re down at that pizza place about 5 minutes west of her house you know that karaoke one?”
“Yea, hey we’re going to come down there with you then meet us out front in 5.”
“Ok I’ll be waiting.” he hung up and sat on a bench out front.
“OK that’s my cue guys I gotta get ready” David said as he wiped his mouth quickly with a napkin and took off. After a girl performed a really good version of “Genie in A Bottle” out came David. I really don’t think I had seen people laugh so hard at him than I did that night! He made a total ass out of himself and loved every moment of it. As soon as he got off the stage we got up.
“Where are you going?” Lindsay asked.
“Bathroom.” I replied.
“Again?”
“We can’t help it! Small bladders I guess” I laughed as we walked back to the front desk where the same girl guided us to the side stage.
“I guess we can ditch the coats now.” Alana suggested as we all removed them revealing our shirts which looked almost exactly like Britney’s.
“Damn how much longer do you think I can get away with this?” I said looking at my stomach.”
“Not too much longer. Be glad you’re not really showing yet.”
“I know, oh well not like I dress like this all the time , thank god.”
In the meantime Joey, Justin and Chris arrived at the restaurant.
“Hey where is JC and Erica?” Lance asked when he only saw the three.
“Oh him and Erica went out. But they’re going to meet us all over at Jen’s at around 9 or 9:30” Joey answered.
“Ok let’s go inside they’re all probably wondering what’s taking me so long. “ They all went in Tiffany was so happy Justin was back he took a seat next to her and held her hand.
“So where is Jen at?” Lance asked.
“oh Alana, Kristin and her had to go to the bathroom again.”
“Kristin and Alana are here?” Joey asked.
“Yea goof remember we called them to tell them about Jen and they said they were staying here for a week.”
“Oh yea.”
“Ok girls as soon as Carmen stops introducing you the stage is going to be kinda dark so whoever is first run out there and do your thing then we’ll have about 7 seconds of darkness and the next person runs out there and then the same thing then once the last person goes it’ll be dark again and you all come out and bow and Carmen will talk to you and the judges will score you and you go back and sit down and then you come back out this way and go sit down and once everything is counted up we’ll announce the people going into the next round. Got it?”
“Umm yea I think so.” Kristin said not to surely.
“Good ok listen up Carmen is getting ready to introduce you.”
“Alright, let’s give it up for our Ricky Martin wannabe, James again.” Carmen said followed but a lot of clapping from the audience. “Our next act is 3 girls here with a special Britney Spears medley, here they are....” she left off as she backed away and the lights went out.
“Oh my god here we go” Kristin said as she ran on stage and assumed position. The music started and the colorful lights were everywhere.
“Oh my god” Lindsay said as she saw Kristin.
“What?” Joey asked.
She just simply pointed to Kristin.
“This is going to get a whole lot funnier.” Tiffany said, already knowing our plans.
Joey was in shock but sat back and enjoyed her singing
Kristin was doing totally awesome, we had it set up so she would go thru about half the song till Alana would come in.
“Don’t you know I still believe that you will be here and give me a siiiiiiiiggggggggnnn hit me baby one more time.” Kristin finished as the lights went out and Alana ran on stage.
“Baby all I need is time.” Alana struck her final pose and the lights went out yet again. I took a big breath and ran out on stage.
“Baby I’m so into you. You’ve got that somethin’ what can I do? ” I sang and pointed at Lance who was totally surprised to see me out there. Everyone was pretty much in shock to see me out there in front of all these people not breaking a sweat or anything. The song was almost over and I was so glad because quite honestly it started to get boring.
“Baby thinking of you keeps me up all night!” the lights went out and Kristin, Alana, and Carmen joined me out on the stage. The crowd went nuts for us. Even some guys in the back were whistling which was quite flattering.
“Wow girls you really got that act down pat. How long did it take you to put that together.” Carmen asked
“Actually all we did was cut the tape in like 5 minutes today and here we are.” I replied.
“Awesome. Well you 3 can go have a seat and we’re going to take a short 10 minute break, tally up the votes and announce our 3 contestants going on to the next round.” she turned off her mic, walked off the stage and the restaurants normal lighting came back on. Alana, Kristin, and I picked up our jackets and walked back to the table as if nothing had happened.
“Hey Chris, long time no see.” Alana said as she gave him a hug and a light kiss and sat down beside him.
“Joey, I’m so glad to see you.” Kristin said responding in a similar manor as Alana had.
“Hey we’re back from the ‘bathroom’ did we miss anything?” I joked.
“Funny. What were you doing up there in your condition?” Lance asked.
“My condition? I don’t have a condition. I’m fine now! I’m not letting a few bruises stop me from having fun. So what did you think?”
“You 3 were great” Lindsay replied.
“Thanks, I think we could’ve been better.” Alana said.
“You were great better than Britney herself.” Chris replied.
“Yea, so Tiff why didn’t you do a number with them?” Justin asked.
“Justin come on? Do you think I want to get up there and act like that whore? NO THANK YOU!” she smiled being the hard core Britney hater she was.
“She’s not that bad Tiffany you need to lighten up.” Joey commented.
“Oh shut up, please. She’s come too close to Justin you can’t blame me from wanting to keep that little winch away from my Justy.” she said hugging him.
“Ok, ok, look there’s Carmen with the results.” Kristin pointed out.
“Alright we’re back and in my hand I have the three finalists who are going to go on and perform an unrehearsed song in the next round and compete for the Grand prize trophy. Going on to round two we have Mike, Jack, and Steve who wowed you with their own version of Blink 182’s ‘What’s my age again’. Next we have our returning competitor, David the ‘Pretty Fly White Guy’ and of course no surprise we have Kristin, Alana, and Jen our Britney Spears wannabe’s. All finalists please come join me on the stage now.”
We (myself, Kristin, Alana, and David), were so shocked we made it to the next round but we quickly ran up the steps onto the stage. The Blink 182 guys spun the “Wheel of horrors” ( a total exact replica of the karaoke wheel of death on say what karaoke) and landed on TLC “No Scrubs” The difference with this version of say what karaoke was that after you spun you were given 90 seconds to talk it over and prepare a little bit but with no musical assistance. After their 90 seconds was up they delivered the oddest but coolest version I have ever seen of “No Scrubs” they were acting so incredibly gay the whole time. Next was David who got what Kristin, Alana and I personally wanted “I want it that way” by the Backstreet boys. He ran over to us and was asking for suggestions.
“Listen just don’t act gay like those other guys.” Alana suggested
“Walk around and serenade some of these girls that takes place of dancing.” I added.
“Do you know the words?” Kristin asked.
“Yea I’m lucky there” he replied.
“well then don’t worry your time is almost up break a leg” she said pushing him out onto the stage.
David’s performance was superior he could’ve been the 6th Backstreet boy. We were up next I was so nervous it was going to land on Marilyn Manson, Busta Rhymes, or Barenaked Ladies which we all would’ve totally bombed.
“Who’s going to spin?” Carmen asked.
“Me I guess.” I replied as I walked to the wheel. It was a rather lousy spin but it made it’s way around 2 or 3 times before it slowed down. I knew where it was going and all I could do was mumble “oh shit” to myself. There it was, how embarrassing was this going to be for us.
“Alright this is going to be good. *NSync, ‘I want you back’ do you 3 know this one?” she asked.
“yes, unfortunately.” we laughed.
“Ok well you’ve got 90 seconds to plan it out. So go!” she directed. We walked down to our table completely confused as the guys laughed at us.
“What are we suppose to do with this?” I asked
“You know the words you know the moves what’s the problem?” Justin asked us.
“You four! do you know how embarrassing this is going to be? I hope you don’t mind your girlfriend making a fool of herself in front of everyone.” I said to Lance.
“I second that” Kristin said to Joey
“I third that” Alana said to Chris.
“And I am laughing my ass off at you.” Tiffany said.
“Have I told you lately I hate you Tiffany?” I joked. “Don’t worry I’ve got that videotape we can dig out and show Justin a little later on of your little “I want you back” dance with you, me, Kristin, Alana, and Erica! It won’t embarrass us as much as it will you!”
“Oh my god you wouldn’t do that Jen I know you wouldn’t.” she frowned.
“Oh yea I would. Don’t worry Justin wants to see it. Don’t you?” I asked him.
“Yea I wanna see this girl’s moves!” he smiled.
“Ok 90 seconds is up gotta jet” we ran up onto stage and were ready to go.
The whole performance I don’t think Kristin, Alana, or I could make eye contact with our table we were just looking to some guys in the back who were cheering us on. We did the singing the choreography, the looks, everything and finally after what seemed like an eternity it was over.
“You 3 are naturals at this. How did you know all that choreography like that. I’m really impressed. Big *NSync fans and a little more I see.” She said as she winked at us and smiled down to where the guys were sitting. She finally recognized who we were luckily she was the only one or we would’ve all been mobbed that night.
“Yea that’s us.”
“Well once again we’re going to take a 5 minute break and be right back with your
wi “Yea right, what do you mean 5?”
“Well you said Tiffany and Erica were in this video right? Well I’m sure they know it
all too.”
“Oh yea we’ve all got it down.” Kristin commented.
“Alright the votes have been tabulated and the winners of these 3 grand prize
trophies are Jen, Alana, and Kristin.” Carmen screamed from the stage.
We jumped out of our seats and hugged each other and jumped up and down and
eventually made our way to the stage where they presented us with the trophies.
Five minutes later we were walking out of the restaurant and to the van and Justin’s
car to drive back to my house.
“Wow I can’t believe we won.” Alana said looking at her trophy yet again.
“I know can you believe us? We’ve got skills....to keep this party pumpin baby.”
Kristin joked.
“The jokes get weirder and weirder”
“Just like me. But you know you are just so jelous that I’ve got the creative mind
here.”
“So...” Justin interrupted. “Tiff you wanna come with me and Joey why don’t you go
with Kristin in Lindsay’s van and Alana you can come with me too.”
They all agreed and we drove the short trip back to my house where when we
arrived JC and Erica were sitting on the front porch. After the cars were parked we got out
and I approached them.
“Hey guys. How long have you been here?”
“Oh just about 5 or 10 minutes.” JC answered
“Oh good so you haven’t been out here too long. So where were you two? You missed
our big 1st prize karaoke performance.”
“I’m sorry I’m sure you all were great. Let’s go inside and I’ll tell you all about
Europe and tonight.” Erica said.
We all walked inside and took our coats off and relaxed in the living room.
“Ok we’re all comfy now. Start talking.”
“Well Europe was so great to see again I mean I saw more this time than before and
I was with JC which of course was great. But we really needed the time we spent together
and we realized how much we need to be with each other.”
“Aww another happy couple in love it’s so cute.” David said as he laughed.
“Yea.” she blushed “Well on the plane back over JC and I were talking and as soon as
we unpacked back here we went out and we kinda sorta aloped.”
The room fell silent and everyone gaped at them with disbelief.
