We were here at last. Times Square. I’ve always wanted to stand outside of the MTV studios and just scream with everyone but not this time. We were going up to see the man, Carson Daly. After safely getting past their screaming fans and going through security we were up in the actual TRL studios. They weren’t bring the guys out till after the 2nd commercial break so we had to go sit out in the new TRL audience by ourselves which wasn’t so bad. Right up front and center staring at Carson Daly, not too bad of a prize if you ask me.
“Welcome back to TRL the show that counts down your top 10 requested songs of the day. Right now I’m joined by 5 guys I’m sure you all know, ladies and gentlemen *NSync is in the house.” Carson announced followed by the shreiks from the audience.
“First off I want to congratulate you, You’ve been #1 for 2 weeks straight with “Music of My Heart”.”
“Thanks” they all said in unison.
“So you’re doing a concert here in New York tomorrow night right? How’s the tour going? I hear this is the most elaborate tour you have done so far.”
“Yea, this tour we really wanted to give the audience something special. So people can know coming to the concert that they are in for it with lights, dancing, music, and a whole lot more.” JC said.
“Awesome. Well right now we have to get into our #5 most requested song, Christina Agulera “Genie In A Bottle” on TRL.
Now you think sitting in the audience of a MTV show while they play a song people would be like talking and stuff but everyone was singing along and a few people in the back were really getting into it and taking a stab at the choreography. Ok so of course everyone is singing so do you think we are going to sit still? Of course not! We had a little genie in us too.
The video was over and the guys were now comfortable sitting on stools by Carson.
“That was Genie In A Bottle and we’ll be joined by Christina next week. So guys we’ve all seen seen Leno and I must say I am proud of you guys for going against management and coming out and saying the whole girlfriend issue. How have the fans been reacting?”
“Yea we had to go against management they were saying how we would lose so many fans but quite honestly I think they are respecting us a whole lot more now that they know we aren’t hiding anything from them.”
“I know how that goes cause if I have a girlfriend you know management makes me hide it too cause everybody wants a piece of the Daly man.” he joked and the audience filled with laughter. “Well we’ve got to get to our #4 request in a second but right before we do that Lance you had something you wanted to say?”
“Yea” He replied and walked over to the audience and sat next to me with his arm around me. “Ok well I’m sure a lot of you know by now that this is my girlfriend Jen and I just wanted to take a moment in front of all TRL viewers and say that, Jen you know I love you and now is a more perfect time than ever now that we have something even more special to share in our lives and I know how important this is to you now, so I guess what I’m asking is...” he dropped down on one knee and I stared into his eyes “Will you marry me?”
I started crying. That night he gave me that first ring I was thinking someday down the road I would be making myself his wife but now this, I knew he knew that I wanted to get married before the baby came.
“Yes” I said quietly nodding my head up and down and wiping away the tears. They audience was all clapping and saying “aw” as I gave him a huge hug.
Carson interupted the clapping. “And what a perfect time for these guys to come in on our countdown. Here is 98* with ‘I Do’ on TRL.”
I couldn’t believe he did that to me on live TV. I was so happy. The countdown was winding up with Limp Bizkit at #3, Britney Spears at #2, and *NSync and Gloria Estefan at #1 again. Before the show closed out Carson stopped and made an anouncement.
“Before you hear rumors we would like to announce that Lance and Justin are both going to be daddy’s in the near future. That wraps up this edition of TRL we’ll see you tomorrow. We’ll leave you with people begging you to call in and vote for their favorite videos.”
The guys had to go backstage for a few moments after the show was over so Tiffany, Erica, and I were walking down the hall and Lance ran up behind me “Bet u didn’t expect that.”
“You better believe I didn’t. But it meant so much to me. I’m so happy right now.”
“I would’ve died out there if Justin did that to me.” Tiffany said. “Speaking of where is everyone else?”
“Oh they’re going to meet us down in the limo in like 5 minutes.” Lance answered.
We sat in the limo and waited for awhile then the other 4 guys came in.
“Hey Lance why don’t you tell us next time you wanna do something like that?” Chris said as he sat down.
“Cause it was a surprise I wanted to shock everyone.”
“Hey you could’ve trusted me. I would’ve been surprised. So what’s up for tonight”
“I was thinking we could go to a club cause I mean this is NY we have to party” Justin suggested.
“Sounds good to me. Ya’ll in?”
“Yea” everyone said.
Lance whispered something to Chris but I didn’t really pay attention.
We pulled up to the hotel and got out. “So it’s 5:30 now what time are we leaving?” Joey asked.
“Be ready and in the lobby by 7.” Jc said. With that we all went to our rooms to get ready. I decided to lay down for a half an hour before getting ready so in the meantime Lance got his shower and got ready then I got my shower and dressed. When I came out I announced I was ready.
“Well we’re not going anywhere. It’s just you and me tonight.” he replied as I looked over to a candle lighted table, room service had obviously been here.
“Lance, this night is just getting better and better. But we can’t stay here we told everyone we were going to a club with them.
“I told Chris, he already knows. Now come sit down.” He said pulling out the chair so I sat down.
“We haven’t done this since that night at my house.” I said looking the table over.
“Exactly. And we’re going to bring that night back tonight. These last few weeks have been so busy and so full of joy I just don’t think we’ve had enough time to just sit down and celebrate how great our life is going to get within the next year.” he smiled.
“I can’t believe within the next year I’m going to be married. Oh my we’ve gotta tell my dad.”
“I already asked your father and told him to watch the show. He said to just let him know when it is. I told him I want to have it back in Maryland since you miss it so much and that is where we met. Oh and I told your Aunt and she’s going to help plan the wedding.”
“Wow, I can’t believe you did that much so far. So when are we going to have time for this wedding?”
“Well I was thinking the weekend after the guys and me get back from promotions in Europe so mid November?”
“Not that far off. That sounds great tho. I can’t believe this all! It’s too much.”
The night went on exactly as it did that night back in Maryland. The next few weeks were rough with a show almost everynight. But each show got better and better. On September 24th we found ourself back out in California this time for my brother’s wedding. It was so beautiful but over very quickly. The tour wrapped up on October 2nd back in Orlando. Tiffany was only able to stay that weekend before she had to get home. She had already stayed longer than planed and had to get back home for school. As for Erica she was going to be staying in Orlando and going to Europe with the guys.
It was now October 15th the day before Erica and the guys were leaving for Europe. We spent about 2 hours all together at a restaurant then Lance and I went to his house where we sat and talked and got ideas for the wedding which we ended up deciding would be held on November 26th. I ended up staying the night at his house that night.
The following morning we awoke at 5:30 to spend a few more hours together. At 9:30 we drove over to my house where the rest of the guys were picking Lance up for the airport at 10. Sure enough at 10 on the dot there were the guys and Erica ready and waiting for Lance.
“Well I guess this is good-bye for now.” I said looking down at the floor.
“We’re going to be gone for 17 days. I’ll be back on the 1st of November. I’ll call everyday and we’ve got the computers remember. Things will be fine. Then when I get back remember we’re going to be together forever.” he said.
“Yea, I’m going to miss you so much. But I’ll survive.” I said wrapping my arms around him and squeezing him tightly as if I would never see him again. We in engaged in one last kiss and he was gone.
The next week was due to be full of excitement. I finally had to go to school but I wouldn’t have much to do since I had completed all my work for the semester. Due to the fact that I most likely would not be staying in school the whole year because of the baby I was able to work on assignments for the rest of the year. I really liked this school. I had met a bunch of really great people and even met one of my cousins I hadn’t seen in years. He had invited me to a party that he was having on friday and said it would be a great way for me to get to know these people a little better so of course I decided to go.
Friday afternoon when I got home from shopping with my Aunt around 5:00 I decided to give Lance a call.
I picked up the phone and dialed the number to his cell phone and it began to ring. On the third ring he answered.
“Hello?”
“Guess who!” I said into the receiver.
“Hey sweetie I was going to call you in like 15 minutes. How are you doing?” He asked. JC figured it was me and whispered to Lance to let him talk.
“Oh it’s going great I just really miss you a lot.” I whined.
“I miss you too, hey JC wants to talk.”
“Okie dokie put him on”
“Hey Jen how’s it going?” he asked.
“Hey you, things are great here. How’s the promo tour going?”
“Oh good, a lot of screaming fans everywhere, I really appreciate that month we spent with you where it was quiet. Oh Erica says Hi.”
“ Oh tell her ‘Hi’ back and tell her to check her email I wrote her a long letter. Hey can you put Lance back on I can’t talk too long I’m getting ready to go out.”
“Oh hot date tonight?” he joked. Lance shot JC a odd look.
“Yeah JC that’s it I’ve got a really hot date with my cousin, I’m pulling a Britney Spears moment here. Yeah right. My cousin, David, is having a party at his house and he invited me se I have to go. So can you just put Lance back on please?
“Ok here. Bye” he said handing Lance the phone.
“Hot date huh?” Lance asked.
“Haha yeah. David is having a party and he invited me. He thought it would help me meet some of these Florida freaks.”
“Well just remember stay away from the alcohol you party animal and be good.”
“Oh I will. You know me your little angel.”
“That’s right. Well I’ll let you go. I’ll call you tomorrow around this time. Ok?”
“Alright, I Love you. Bye”
“Bye” he hung up.
Around 9:30 I ran upstairs and quickly got dressed. I put on a black skirt and a white top and pulled my hair back in a clip. It was simple but dressy at the same time. I got in my car and drove 4 blocks down the street to David’s house where the party was.
“Hey Jen.Glad you showed up. Everyone is already here. Come on in.” David said as he opened the door.
“Thanks. I don’t want to stay too terribly long.”
“Oh that’s cool. Just stay and meet some of these people.” he said as we walked into his giant living room that was full of people. “Just walk with me for awhile and I’ll introduce you.”
